Your August 2006 Couple of the Month

Compared to the enthusiastic reception given to our ERISA Hotties Contest, in which thousands of votes were tallied, reader response to our August 2006 Couple of the Month contest was tepid. Fewer than 150 votes were recorded in this poll, in which we asked you to vote for the most high-powered, well-heeled, gorgeous couple, from several we picked out from the New York Times wedding pages.
But as we all know — this is America, after all — abysmally low voter turnout doesn’t invalidate election results. And so we have a winner for our August 2006 Couple of the Month. Congratulations to:

CECILY BASKIR and JOHN FREEDMAN !!!

Interestingly enough, out of the five couples in the contest, Cecily and John received the second-lowest overall score from your editors (8.90). But they won the reader vote quite handily, with 33 percent of the ballots cast (see here).
Although Cecily and John received the second-lowest overall score from us, we did give them the highest résumé score. Perhaps you picked them as your favorite couple because you placed more weight on credentials than we did?
We thought that we were résumé snobs — but you, our readers, may be even more snobbish than we are.
