Your NYU Law School Hotties

The NYU Law School hotties contest that we wrote about earlier has concluded. And the winners have been announced.
The results were leaked to us by a tipster who had this to say:

Here you go. Personally I question the results, seeing that I’m not on there.

Probably hanging chad and all that.

We reprint the results email, along with the names of the winners, after the jump.

Here is the text of the email:

The votes are in! After tossing ballots without (or with fake) net ids, 274 people voted. Requiring net ids was to prevent ballot stuffing, which people tried to do anyway.

About this whole thing: of course it’s stupid. But it’s also interesting to see how group perceptions of attractiveness differ from one’s own personal perceptions. This is especially difficult because discussions of who’s attractive is seldom open and frank outside of a small group of friends.

Leave it to a law student to try and come up with a social-psychology-based justification for a hotties contest.

In all honesty, however, the true impetus for this was the following conversation between me and a friend: “I’m way more into [person A] than [person B].” “But [person B] is so hot!” “But they totally suck,” I counter, “and I’m totally positive that people at school think [Person A] is more attractive.” Turns out I was right.

One person emailed us to say that this is degrading to women. That might be the stupidest thing we have ever heard. Is it degrading to women because people aren’t supposed to find women attractive? It might be degrading to everyone, we’ll give you. But seriously.

Sponsored

We agree with the contest sponsors. This was equal opportunity ogling; both men and women were objectified.

Also, we did this all anonymously because, quite frankly, there’s no upside to revealing who we are. We’ll give one hint, and one hint only: if faculty were included, we would have voted for our Con law professor.

ATL readers: Any guesses as to who these folks might be? (And is the professor in question Noah Feldman?)

Without further ado, here are the top ten vote getters, in alphabetical order:

Men:
Marcos Arellano
Adan Canizales
Steven Cephas
Seth Endo
Ahmed Ghappour
Matthew Jackson
Michael Okoye
Arinze Onugha
Bryan Swiss
Manoj Viswanathan

Women:
Xinying Chi
Noa Clark
Kate Fischer
Shaneeda Jaffer
Gina Magel
Ani Mason
Rachael McCracken
Tara Mikkilineni
Zoe Salzman
Rashanda Sibley

Finally, this is not being posted on the website, just because we’d prefer to keep it within the 3L community.

Haha. Nice try!
If you have pictures of any of the 20 winning hotties, feel free to send ’em our way. Thanks!
