Legal Eagle Wedding Watch: January 21, 2007

As Coco Chanel once observed, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” A new feature over at Gawker, called Altarcations, is like Legal Eagle Wedding Watch, but for civilians.
The arrival of Altarcations reminds us of how far behind we are with LEWW. We continue to whittle away at our backlog, and we hope to be all caught up by the end of this week (seriously). Here are the couples under consideration for the weekend of January 20-21:

1. Kristina Daugirdas, Nicholas Bagley

2. Susan Marber, Herbert Fixler

3. Ariana Rose, William Komaroff

Scores and full reviews for these newlyweds, after the jump.

1. Kristina Daugirdas, Nicholas Bagley
Résumé score: 9.4. This is one of the highest scores ever awarded. Both are NYU Law grads — she magna, he summa. Kristina is a Brown and LSE graduate, a former law clerk to the exceedingly prestigious Judge Stephen F. Williams (D.C. Circuit), and a lawyer at the State Department. Tough to top, right? But Nick has managed to do so: he’s a member of the Elect, currently clerking for Justice John Paul Stevens.
Family score: 8.7. Her father founded a human resources and organizational consulting firm — solid. Her mother is a retired school superintendant. His mother is a retired accountant for KPMG, and his father is of counsel to a San Diego law firm.
Beauty score: 8.6. Their Times photograph can be filed under “trying too hard.” He’s peeking out from behind her, with his neck sort of hooked over her left shoulder. It’s a variation on the conventional “Siamese twins joined at the head” picture, but it’s odd because of the orientational shift. They look a bit Janus-like.
Balance score: 8.7. Even though he’s one of the Elect and she’s one of the Great Unwashed, her credentials — including that D.C. Circuit clerkship with Judge Williams — narrow the gap considerably.
Overall score: 8.85.
Additional comments: Judge Williams officiated. Very nice. Was Justice Stevens in attendance (or was he hanging out in Florida, as he is wont to do)?
2. Susan Marber, Herbert Fixler

Résumé score: 8.7. She’s a freelance marketing consultant; he’s a partner in the New York office of Wolf Block. They’re a bit older — she’s 52, and he’s 63 — so we’ve held them up to a somewhat higher standard than a younger couple.
Family score: –. The announcement doesn’t contain much information about their parents (who have passed away).
Beauty score: 8.7. Given their ages, we’ve shown them more leniency in this department. But they don’t need much. He’s a handsome older gent, and she looks like Jeanne Tripplehorn (the non-Sharon Stone woman from Basic Instinct).
Balance score: 8.7.
Overall score: 8.70.
Additional comments: We like them. They have a sense of humor. They’ve been dating for the past ten years, during which they’ve started referring to each other as “spouselike objects.”
3. Ariana Rose, William Komaroff

Résumé score: 8.9. She’s a nurse practitioner; he is an assistant U.S. attorney in the legendary Southern District of New York (which explains their high resume score). He’s also a Dartmouth and University of Michigan Law grad.
Family score: 9.0. Her father is a researcher at the University of Texas; her late mother was a real estate broker. His father was the chairman of Proskauer Rose — wow! He’s now the senior adviser to a medical supply company. His mother owns a travel agency.
Beauty score: 8.7. He looks a bit like Ed Harris; she looks like she could be a newscaster (although maybe on the local rather than national news).
Balance score: 8.3.
Overall score: 8.73.
Additional comments: The story of how they met is very cute. The met on the subway platform on a Sunday morning, on the way to a half-marathon in the Bronx. They got each others’ names, but no contact information. After the race, he went to the website listing the race results and did a search for her first (and fortunately distinctive) name: “Ariana.” Then he got her number from 411 and called her. While this practice is generally frowned upon — as Ariana points out to the Times, it’s called “results-stalking” — it worked out nicely for them.
THIS WEEK’S WINNING COUPLE: We had three high-quality couples; but only one can be the winner. Congratulations to KRISTINA DAURGIDAS and NICHOLAS BAGLEY!!!
