At the Harlan Fiske Stone Moot Court Finals
Yesterday afternoon, we attended the Harlan Fiske Stone Moot Court finals, at Columbia Law School. We interviewed the four finalists prior to the arguments.
Here’s our interview with Eric Chesin and Geoffrey Reed:
And here’s our interview with David Gringer and Patrick Somers:
After impressive arguments, and deliberation by the distinguished panel — Justice Samuel A. Alito, Judge Susan P. Graber, Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, and Judge Sonia Sotomayor — the best oralist prize went to Eric Chesin. Congratulations, Eric!

Is Eric Chesin related to Scott Chesin, master debater and fellow Columbia Law grad?
Yes. Scott was at the argument yesterday, along with Mr. and Mrs. Chesin. Super cute!

4 white males...why no people of color in this competition?
Apparently, the Moot Court competition just instituted a "No Nappy-Headed Hoes" rule.
(too soon?)
Why "just instituted"? It was 4 white males in the final last year as well.
I developed a slight crush on eric chesin during our years on the long island high schools speech and debate circuit. Mazel tov! Call me!
is chesin gay?
No people of color because it's merit based. For minority success in a merit based system, see nba.com
White males are excellent at being confident and pushy even when they're dead wrong, hence their success in endeavors like Moot Court.
