Andrew Speaker’s Annotated Engagement Announcement

Here is the annotated engagement announcement for Andrew Speaker — aka “The TB Guy,” whom we just named our Lawyer of the Day — and his wife, Sarah Cooksey.

It’s a tale that’s abounding in irony. Check it out:

Doesn't it seem odd that he contracted a rare drug resistant strain of TB and has a father-in-law working on TB research? A conspiracy theorist would think his father-in-law didn't like him too much.

he must have gone somewhere icky if they do not mention his undergrad.

this implies she already has a kid:

His parents are from a better part of town.

Can anyone explain how she does not have TB?

He looks hotter in the law firm photo? Not surprising - he probably didn't have deadly, incurable TB back then.

4:56 - His parents are from a better part of town but whoever wrote the announcement was tacky enough to include Buckhead instead of Atlanta. I'm sure the partners at King & Spalding love the PI lawyer neighbor.

Making fun of someone in quarantine and about to die of TB: not cool.

5:08: He is not about to die. He is not symptomatic.

Per ABC News: "In a press conference, a hospital spokesperson said she was optimistic about the chances of Speaker's recovery."

from CNN: A spokesman for Denver's National Jewish Medical and Research Center said Speaker was wearing a mask and was escorted by federal marshals when he arrived, but seemed normal otherwise.

"He looked kind of like you guys, more or less," spokesman William Allstetter told reporters.

He should be disciplined by the bar for avoiding the no-fly order.

Good job equating attorneys with weasels in the public mind yet again.

It seems as if his parents are from the 30342 "Buckhead," so all of the K&S partners are safe.

5:04 = not so subtle Alston troll, or in the alternative very clever Troutman troll

5:41 - it is ok to say you live in Buckhead in conversation but on things that are official, such as an address on a piece of mail or a wedding announcement, one should put "Atlanta." Call Paces Papers if you have doubts....

Saying he is from "Buckhead" is like someone putting "Upper East Side." Braggy and tacky.

To see if the K&S partners are really safe, check to see if any of them belong to PDC.

I thought he was hot in his firm pic, but here he doesn't look hot at all (nor does she)

There is an actual city called "Buckhead" in Georgia, too, that is a different place than the Buckhead area in Atlanta, so if that's where they're from it would obviously be ok (although since that Buckhead is in Morgan County, 30 minutes to an hour south of Athens, and his Dad has been practicing law in Atlanta for many years, this explanation is shaky at best).

The Speaker Firm website mentions that he also went to UGA for undergrad.

Any word on where she is working? Shouldn't she have been in BarBri instead of being on an "extended honeymoon?"

So, who is starting the class action suit? I think this is the most reprehensible act of irreponsibility I have seen since the start of the Iraq war.

A victim of govt conspiracy...the goal of which to increase public fear. The father-in-law is the likely source of the less-than-but confusingly close to-incurable strain...which doesn't bode well for the the new FIL/SIL relationship. The CDC is a party to the disinformation. Speaker is a hero for speaking truth to power!
