Lawyer of the Day: John O’Quinn
Lately we’ve been writing a lot about the Lone Star State. So it’s fitting that John O’Quinn, the “legendary and controversial” Texas trial lawyer, is ATL’s Lawyer of the Day.
Why? Here are at least 35.7 million reasons.

Lat, 35.7 million or 37.5 million?
if you read the opinion, you'll see that the legendary Joe Jamail (of you tube deposition fame) represented one of the parties
Looks like the typo was fixed.
Was this the same guy who was involved in the Anna Nicole Smith case?
good point 2:52. Overlawyered is trumpeting this decision, but they fail to mention that 1/3 of the money will go to Jamail.
That will teach those stinky trial lawyers.
Overlawyered is a very annoying site. It seems to exist solely for its authors to bitch and moan about trial lawyers. Because, of course, defense & corporate lawyers never do anything wrong, and all corporations are saints.
Still, heh heh, O'Quinn has been pwned. It's hilarious that Joe "You wanna piece of me, Big Boy?" Jamail represents some of the plaintiffs in the class action against O'Quinn over his fee agreements.
Wait, the Overlawyered blog overlooking facts in pursuit of its narrow, ideological agenda? Color me as shocked by that as by the Vick dogfighting allegations.

O'Quinn is a legend. Go Coogs!
Is he related to the John O'Quinn who clerked for Scalia a few years back?
What fact did we overlook? We posted the whole opinion (and an earlier post linked to press coverage), each of which makes clear that Jamail was one of the attorneys involved to the extent someone thinks that has relevance. (And it was a Jamail partner who sent us the opinion.) We didn't mention how much Jamail is getting because we don't know (and neither do you) how much Jamail is getting.
Overlawyered regularly covers wrongdoing by defense attorneys, too. Perhaps someone should actually read the weblog before criticizing it.
3:01 + 3:11 (both of you): pwn3d by Ted Frank.
I think that someone needs to call Ted a whambulance (chaser?).
Ted is still defending that terrible blog I see.
Ted Frank + US Chamber of Commerce = True Luv 4 Eva
That's one of his baby pictures Lat. I have litigated against the guy in the past.
"What I do is represent the powerless against the powerful. . . . I’ve been blessed with talent, and I’ve got commitment and passion”
Fitting that the quote on his website sounds like it came from a televangilist.
3:34: He is not. Disappointed?
4:06: I think you mean a wahmbulance. A whambulance handle's medical emergencies for George Michael.
