The woman who managed to injure herself by chewing a starburst is precisely the specimen that makes one question whether natural selection occurs in humans (see WSJ photo)

"Finally, critics say the punishment does not fit the crime: Mr. Libby was a first-time offender with years of exceptional public service and was handed a harsh sentence based in part on allegations never presented to the jury."

Allegations never presented to the jury?? OMG!!! BUSH ATTACKS FEDERAL SENTENCING GUIDELINES AS TOO HARSH!!??

This is an outrage.

I'm not soft on crime, rather I simply support putting poor people where they belong. Poor people are a danger to society. Scooter is not.

Libby is a better person than most people convicted of crimes. He has done real charity work (i.e. pro bono work). He has served his country. He has an education and a “real” family (wife and kids). Most people sentenced to jail are hardly educated. Their volunteerism, at best, is ineffective since they are not lawyers, let alone partners at large firms. And, quite frankly, there isn’t any real need to see him in jail.

Poor brown people in jail I can accept. But rich white guys like me? Such a travesty will not stand. Not on my watch.

"This decision to commute the sentence of a man who compromised our national security cements the legacy of an Administration characterized by a politics of cynicism and division, one that has consistently placed itself and its ideology above the law. This is exactly the kind of politics we must change so we can begin restoring the American people’s faith in a government that puts the country’s progress ahead of the bitter partisanship of recent years."
