When the client's wife calls and asks for the receipt, you are pretty justified thinking that she acts for him since he *married* her. And of course there is the public policy defense. After Leroy Greer's wife filed for divorce in January 2006, he began seeing another woman and sent his new girlfriend a dozen long-stemmed roses. Actually the question is whether or not the credit card used was a joint account since the billing address is the same as the wifes. We are all ssuming that it was because of the "Thank You Card" if could have very well been the wife saw the "Thank You Card" looked at the bank statement and called about the charges. I don't see you calling a retailer over a thank you note but she would need more then a name and address to get information. Such as credit card, number, expiration date, and billing address. And she would need to say more then I need to know why you sent my husband a thank you card. Probably along the lines I have a unauthorized charge on my credit card what is it for. I so understand this situation. When a black man becomes sucessful his whole family wants to cash in because they feel like they are entitled too him and his sucess (MONEY). Mama, sisters, cousins, nephews and nieces, grandma(pa) and the dady(if he has one who knows him). So when he marries someone and give her a good material life (as he should because its his wife), they all get mad at her, the wife, act their plain old getto-drama mess, make his wife life impossible, try to put her down and all kind of schemes. Just because she is enjoying what she more than likely help him build, because if he came from nothing or not much, then he must have had some kind of help from his woman. But because his mama man did not give her much, his sister had kids from men who do not give them much, and so on... they all get mad, and hate on the sister who is his wife. The black man is already traumatized by his family, by the sexual conduct that he saw while growing up, that just having sex with a whole bunch of different women helps to calm the issues he has in his mind. He doesn't know how to love, how to give love, how to receive love, how to live like a respectable monogamous man, how to protect his woman and children, how to respect the God he claims to worship. He is just a plain human emotional and psycological disposal(as is most of his family if they have not broken the cycle) even though he might be economically successful.
I learned this after going to counseling with my husband who had the same behaviors, and who's family felt the same way about me as the Greer family feel about Bernice.
Bernice is a strong woman, and I hope she takes her money, run, start a new life and take some counseling with her child.
I refused to let my soon to be ex-spouse issues and inlaw-family brake me down. I was raised by parents who invested in my physical, emotional and psycological welfare to become an intelligent, beautyfull woman black woman. That's the reason why my spouse married me, he wanted at last a normal enviroment, but he was malfunctional and I do not believe that I should have to pay, for parents (his), who did not take the time to invest in their children emotional well being.

Helen, I couldn't agree more with you. I feel like some where Leroy and his family of sisters and their ba ba kids feel that what he is doing is normal because for some reason that was normal in their home. Who knows why Leroy is with Bernice and vice versa. I can't even bring the other woman into this because frankly she doesn't matter. My husband mentioned the same thing. They're going to church but have they considered counseling instead of listening to the crazy family members they ALL need professional HELP. Like my momma always says if you leave a stack of shit alone the smell doesn't bother you it starts to stink when you stick something in it and mess with it. It draws the flies and all types of rodents. Leroy should've just accepted he got caught. If he was sorry appologized and worked on either making his marriage work or just settling the divorce. But now he started this ghetto shit of a lawsuit and now everyone stinks that was involved.
Bernice you shouldn't be embarrassed about anything. Especially what his ghetto sister and her children have to say. You did what any woman would've done. We all have loved fools and dogs at some point in our lives. If there is hope for you and Leroy you'll need to get your nucleus family (you/him and the child) and bounce. Leave the extended family alone and focus on your family. It was probably at the bad advice of his sister and family he thought to do the stupid lawsuit in the first place.

Wow! I wanted to join in but I think everything has been said. Except I'm Leroy's cousin in Boston and I support him 100%. Our families and friends don't need to fight this out on the internet or anywhere else that's what the lawyers are there for.
