Nixon Peabody ThemeSongGate: An ABC News Webcast
Yesterday we were away from the blogosphere. We had several meetings to attend in the morning. Then, in the afternoon, we did a webcast for ABC News. We spoke with Mary Fulginiti, the former AUSA who now covers legal affairs for ABC News, about L’Affaire Nixon Peabody:
(The last time we did a webcast for ABC News, some of you opined that we looked too shiny. And you were right. So this time around, we stopped at the make-up department before entering the studio. Thanks for the constructive criticism!)

First!
one to say: Damn, she's hot.
Less shiny, much better.
But you still need to lose about 20 pounds, Lat.
I for one thinked Lat looked nothing like a catfish. He is more salmon-like, if you ask me.
Nice picture of WGWAG.
you can't be bothered to put on a tie for a national television station? much better though on the shine.
Mary pretty
Why does she keep winking at the screen? How annoying.
I don't think she's that hot. Nice shirt, Lat.
Me likey!
Dude, David Lat it hot.
Mary Fulginiti makes Miss Teen South Carolina look like a genius.
She's hot, but not a very good broadcaster. There's the weird eye twich going on, and her yukking seems oddly forced, not to mention that someone gave her a script that was almost verbatim to the video that she then played in its entirety.
Lat's appearance was good. No shifty eyes, no shininess. A bit stiff at first but he loosened up after the first question or two.
Lat: more posts about Mary, please. If she's no longer a lawyer, does that disqualify her to be a judicial diva? God, I hope not.
Yes. Lat.
David Lat is becoming the Mo Rocca of the legal profession. I love it.
The chemistry in this interview is horrendous.
First, she is pretty hot.
Second, did anyone else think it was ironic that the music for the ABC News "Law and Justice" video is clearly a 1980's inspired rock theme.
Something to think about.
hot.
love the eyes, all the winking - that is the definition of "bedroom eyes"
but wathc her deliver the next report on Vriginia Tech - she doesn't do the stern, sober thing all that well....
Holy smokes- you might be able to bang her Lat- too bad you're gay! she is hot!
Does anyone know if Lat is single?
She has a pretty face, but Lat, how's her body???
The Nixon Peabody website appears to be down
Lat you look very cute here.
--White guy who likes Asian guys
My guess is she looks great in a thong!
Nixon Peabody is "white shoe" firm?
Mary the virgin she ain't
Dear god -- can't someone please change the "appologize" and "comissioned"? Is it that hard? To the extent that reflects on you, David, it reflects poorly.
A google search for Nixon Peabody yields the youtube video as the fifth hit.
Well done.
Yet another reason why the Nixon Peabody theme song has been ATL's finest hour.
This story is far from "on its last legs," as Lat reported last week. In fact, it keeps getting better.
Between "Everyone's a Winner" and Larry "Wide Stance" Craig, I've been prone to fits of uncontrollable giggling over the past two weeks.
Lat, for a guy who runs a legal tabloid, you are oddly humorless on TV.
Everyone's a winner with Section 512(c).
Somebody please do a mash-up of the Nixon Peabody song with antivirus software maker Symantec's own smash hit: http://www.madchat.org/vxdevl/vxmisc/Symantec_Revolution.mp3

To wide stance: I'm giggling over NP and craig, too. It sucks because it totally gives away that I am not really working in my office. Bah!
Lat doesn't need a tie, but the makeup did help. Maybe you should get some Mary Kay going on ATL, with Lat as spokesperson.
Fuck ties. Ties suck. They choke you and make you hot.
Lat doesn't need to wear one because he's not practicing law. More power to him.
I don't wear a tie anymore unless I absolutely have to, i.e., if I'm in court, a depo, or meeting a new client.
I feel the same way about pants.
Did you guys ever consider that maybe Lat didn't wear a tie because couldn't button the top button on his shirt. Seriously, you people are so narrow-minded and inconsiderate.
HAHAHA <-- remembers how NP tried to strong-arm Lat into keeping this quiet.
Dear 1:23 PM:
I think you standards may be a tad high.
Lat talks out of the side of his mouth. Open it straight.
I think a tie is required for TV, not so much for a webcast.
"you can't be bothered to put on a tie for a national television station?"
The no-tie thing is his look. He's actually relatively formal for a blogger. The Powerline guys probably wear bathrobes.
This track is very, very (perhaps substantially) similar to "Everyone's a Winner" by Bootsauce. Check it out.

That woman is beautiful.
6:46, I guess that tie/TV rule of yours knocks Barack Obama out of of the presidential race, right?
Lat is not gay. Lat never has been gay.
Lat IS GAY. He just isn't open about it because the Flips are notroiously homophobic. Come on Lat, as a fellow Flip, who is not queer, I would respect you more if you were more if you were not so *diplomatic* about the subject.
It did look like amateur hour on abcnews but then i'd never go on TV. Too scary.
11:14 - No, Obama being black knocks him out of the race. White, liberal guilt isn't enough to get a black man elected in America. Maybe in 20 years.
Is that the ghost of Karen Carpenter?
Lat, you didnt have to force the use of the wqord "divergent" when explaining the diffenrent tone between the email and the follow up telephone. You fucked that all up.
Lat's a cutie! Thumbs up!
I'm assuming that aired on ABC when when they go on the air at like 4:30 AM and no one is watching TV (or not the news, at least). She's one of the worst newscasters I've ever seen -- twitchy, stumbling while reading the teleprompter, strange/unnatural voice inflections, poor attempts at humor/sarcasm. Doesn't help that her script is also horribly written, and the production quality was also bad.
Lat's done much better in previous TV interviews (even when shiny). Not so great this time, but I'll chalk that up to the fact that she's not a good interviewer.
She's not bad to look at, and she has a pretty good background. I can see why ABC would have been intrigued, but after seeing her on air, I'd think they would have given up on this experiment. There's got to be much better talent out there with some legal experience...
come on Lat, give us some more info on the rest of the hottie...like how tall, approx weight, how's the rack, etc.? Anyone know of any full body shots so we can end the speculation???
Lat,
That was like watching a hostage video. Peabody song doesn't seem so bad anymore.
LAT IS NOT GAY!!!
He just has a wide stance.
That chick is cute. I don't care what any of you morons say. I'd tag that any day of the week.
It's funny how much more attractive women are in LA.
What a fat face.
Sept. 1 1:14- He can't give more info. They weren't even in the same room! Don't you know how these remote interviews work? The split screen is a dead giveaway.
She's not hot, but definitely MILF territory, if you're into that kind of thing.
Damn, it did go live after all.
Yeah, I app.. ap.. I'm sorry for the misspellings. It was thrown together inside of an hour, while I was still steamed over NP's actions.
And no, much as I'd like to, I'm not changing it. Although I'd have been way more careful if I knew how much attention it would get, that's what I threw out there. It is what it is. It shouldn't reflect on Lat at all, b/c he had nothing to do with it.
