Breaking: Cameron Diaz at Cadwalader!

Cameron Diaz Cadwalader Wickersham Taft CWT Above the Law blog.jpgAre you in the New York office of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft? If so, then please rush up to the 39th floor — and take your camera phone!

Cameron Diaz is on the 39th floor of Cadwalader’s New York office, using a conference room for some movie being made on South End Ave. Don’t know what the movie is, do you?

Might it be What Happens in Vegas, starring both Diaz and Kutcher, and currently listed as “filming”?

Rumor from the secretaries has it that Ashton [Kutcher] and Demi [Moore] might be up there too. Apparently Greg Markel, chair of the litigation department, said the firm let them use the conference room. He was supposed to take his picture with her — and didn’t know who she was until minutes before!

Wow. Are Biglaw partners even more cloistered than federal judges?

It’s no Michael Jackson sighting, but maybe you still care to know. Does that make CWT an “it” firm now?

Sorry, not quite. But it does make up for the bedbug infestation!

Update: “Someone here also saw them setting up a ‘stars buffet’ outside of the conference room. LOL!”

This is bloody insanity, I tell you. Whom do you think set up this rendezvous with the firm, hmm? OF COURSE IT WAS I. I'm in love with Aphrodite in human form.

Damn you all. And now the next pizza I deliver will be free because I didn't get it there in 30 minutes or less. Infidels!

Question to Lat: Why can't we post comments on the Lateral Link job postings?

Response to said posting (above this post): what 10-year partner at a "recognized law firm" seriously applies for his own job online? Do these people seriously think that making toy executive jets (in New Mexico) makes them that special? Do they not like whatever law firm they're currently using enough to grab one of their partners? Sort of odd.

DLA Piper's Baltimore office was used as CIA Headquarters in the movie Syriana.

Apparently, nothing got done for three days, because all of the secretaries (and many of the female attorneys, one assumes) were loitering in reception hoping for a glance of George Clooney.

There's a film trailer across the street from Cadwalader right now - it must be true

D'ja think Cadwalader pre-disclosed the bedbug infestation to the Diaz entourage? I think not.

I heard they wanted to film during the day because it's quieter -- there are too many associates there overnight.

Dear CWT associates:

It's a girl, that's what the longer hair and breasts indicate. We know you haven't seen one in months, and I know it's exciting, but not every woman is a movie star. For instance, Jessica Alba did not actually check you out when you grabbed coffee on your 3 a.m. daily "yard time" ...

A friend.

I was in NYC for a callback on Monday and Diaz was walking down Wall St. while filming some scene.

They made all pedestrians stop so they could shoot the scene. I said "f-- this, I'm a lawyer bitch!" and I kept walking and made Diaz wait.

There is Hollywood filming of movies, tv shows, and commercials every week in downtown Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, and Century City. Stars filter in and out of law firms all the time there, especially in west L.A.

So one high-profile female actress showed up at a NYC law firm one day. Big freaking deal. You East Coasters are so sheltered.
