Forget About the Summer Associate Stories

Absolutely Fabulous Ab Fab AbFab Above the Law blog.jpgMaybe we should feature stories about the full-time associates who mistreat summer associates. For one such story, involving a senior associate in New York who's an a**hole of Ari Gold proportions, see here.

Or maybe we should feature stories about partners who, despite being partners, comport themselves in a manner that would make Aquagirl blush. For one such story -- from a few years ago, and from the other side of the pond, but trust us, it's good -- see here.

We'll tell you that the two naughty female partners were from Shearman & Sterling. But please respect the house rules and don't identify them further. Considering the great nicknames developed for partner #2, including "The Human Stain" and "The Sprinker," it's just not necessary. Thanks.

I know of at least three cases of married partners at prestigous DC law firms shacking up with very junior associates. Licentious or par for the course?

I want to bang my hot secretary (and the summer associate that just left and the 1st year Associate starting next week)

The British story is extremely well-written - hilarious!

What's wrong with Ari Gold?

Seriously people...all married partners bang junior associates. Some of them bang good looking paralegals. It's indemic at big law firms. "At least three cases" just means you aren't in the loop enough to know about the rest

2:49: all married male partners, you mean. I haven't heard too many examples of the ladies dabbling, though I don't claim it's never happened.

That senior associate is going to make partner. That's what it takes to make it in Big Law.

Greatest use of the words "a shrubbery" since Monty Python.

Were the partners hot? Or the associates? That would make the story better.

Like my former boss/partner used to say..."you throw a bunch of men and women together in the same place long enough and sooner or later a few of them are going to start f---ing."

I'm hot. That's all that matters.

2:48 -- are you drunk? That story was pretentious shit. It was funny, but much too wordy. I assume you are a NY lawyer that wouldn't know good writing if it fell on you?

sometimes the partner leaves his partner wife and marries the junior associate.

Hmm...maybe these are perks Lat should do a post about - affairs with partners and whether firms put up with partners/associates who are a-holes. At my BigLaw firm, I have heard there are plenty of affairs (haven't seen proof) and the firm only puts up with a-holes if they have lots of clients.

Just finished reviewing documents all day. I was working with another associate and we kept lamenting the fact that we don't have a monkey.
