O.J. Simpson: If I Did It...

oj simpson mug shot Above the Law no pun intended.jpgI was just trying to get back my own stuff. From Fox 5 (Las Vegas):

Authorities are still investigating whether a gun was used when O.J. Simpson and others entered a Las Vegas hotel room and, after a heated argument, walked off with sports memorabilia.

The incident was reported to police during a 9-1-1 call as an "armed robbery," though Simpson claims no break in or crime was committed and he was simply retrieving his own possessions.

And then he drove off in a white Bronco.

Okay, not really -- but the story is similarly bewildering. It seems O.J. was engaged in a bit of self-help, conducting a "sting" operation against collectors he believed were in possession of sports memorabilia that really belonged to him. But it's not clear how the collectors came into possession of the memorabilia in the first place.

If you care about this story -- we're trying hard, but not really feeling it -- the AP has more details here.

Screw OJ. Just another black guy who claims he did nothing wrong (ala Mike Vick) when the evidence is so stacked against him.

More on Senator D-Bag Craig!!!

Are you saying it's not ok to make fun of OJ? You must have been born in 1996.

Hey, 5:28--making fun of the fools Lat usually pokes fun of, who tend to bring this crap on themselves, is one thing. But when a law student (or someone else) has just tragically died, most likely leaving somebody or a lot of somebodies grieving, do you really want that family to google their departed loved one--maybe seeking his obituary, maybe just wanting to look back on something he did--and come across some of the crap that spews on this site? I totally appreciate Lat's judgment call.

He did this now to get the unopened case of books. Are you following the story on the Goldmans and Browns?

After the criminal trial, O.J. was going to make it his mission in tracking down the people "actually responsible" for killing his Nicole and Ron Goldman. I've yet to see that "sting" materialize. But I can rest easy, because he's on top of the sting to get his "stuff" back.

Lat, I'm glad you guys aren't really feelin this story b/c neither am I. It is so blah and ridiculous that people are so obsessed with OJ getting his.
It totally disgusts me how invested people in this story are. I've seen too many message boards going off on how b/c this one black man got away with murder it is proof our legal system is a joke-- I thought the days Genarlow (Wilson?), Jena 6, Tulia, and Oakland Riders were proof of that. I would be far less outraged about the people obsessed with OJ if they were similarly obsessed with these other injustices and if the media actually substantially covered these things over OJ, Paris, and Lohan. Lat are we covering Jena 6?

To OJ is a reflection of LA-- what does this have to do with him being black? (p.s. didn't Vick plead guilty?)
There are tons of whites and blacks in the media who claim to have done nothing wrong (Paris' comments on Larry King, Lindsay Lohan, that white actor accused of murder that no one paid attention to, and of course Larry Craig). Point is what's race got to do with it, aside from the fact that there are too many people in America like you who are more angry that a black man got away with killing a white woman than actual justice? I really hope you were trying to be ironic by immediately mentioning Sen Craig after talking about how black people claim no wrong-doing with a lot of evidence against them.
