Playing ‘Peekaboo’ with Debra Wong Yang of Gibson Dunn
Here are some of the comments appended to our recent post about Gibson Dunn’s snazzy new website:
“I like the pictures on the main directory. Those are the best part. Except that they don’t have too many women, and one of the women is in a very high school girl peek-a-boo around the brick wall pose. They’d never put up a picture of a man doing that.”“I agree… Shame on you, peek-a-boo posing Asian woman!”
“Uh, that ‘peek-a-boo posing Asian woman’ is Debra Yang, the former U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, whom GDC allegedly paid a $1 mil signing bonus. She can peek-a-boo around whatever the hell she wants to peek-a-boo around.”
“Debra Yang’s picture’s been taken down.”
“Wait, the peek-a-boo is still there. Now spotted in the mix over at Practices. Please, GDC, put up a different picture of Ms. Yang.”

Proper!
blah
Hooray! People are sane.
Is this an asian massage parlor ad? What a horrible picture to take of this woman.
Debra Yang does not get pushed around by anyone at GDC. If she posed for that pic and let them put it on the website, that seems to suggest that she doesn't feel demeaned or trivialized by it. And if Ms. Yang is ok with it, why should anyone else be offended?
Some women like this sort of pose as a way to hide their weight.
Offended? Come on. It's just plain stupid and unbecoming!
They should change the rotating header to
over 115 years of
ABSOLUTE CHAUVINISM
Don't you people have any work to do?
Nice... bricks.
a $1.5M signing bonus? wow.
That's her asian myspcace page pic
Has anyone noticed that the new GDC website looks like the print edition of the Washington Post?
They must have taken their motto from "Prison Break"
Who cares? If they had a picture of her reading a book, would people say that's inappropriate because it suggests Asians always keep their noses buried in books?
what building is she in? it actually *looks* like a public high school.
We need an option in the poll for nothing about this picture is offensive but it's really, really strange.
Wow!!! ATL is becoming more and more like perezhilton.com and "pink is the new blog"!
