America’s Next Top Model: A University of Miami 1L?

We just finished watching America’s Next Top Model. So it’s quite appropriate for us to pass along this modeling montage video, which is amusingly bizarre. From a tipster:

I hate to pile it on, but you have to check out this YouTube clip of a University of Miami 1L. It’s a seven-minute clip of various glamour shots, set to the soothing sounds of flamenco guitar. I think my favorite photos involve her posing with a samurai sword.

We agree; nothing beats a samurai sword paired with fishnets. But the pics of her in a midriff-baring schoolgirl outfit, replete with pigtails, are also pretty great. As is the photo of her humping a white banister, which kicks off the whole thing.

You don’t need to watch the entire video, since the shots start to repeat after a while, but stick around at least until “Hotel California.” Enjoy!

Update (12:15 AM): Sigh. If you click on the video below, you’ll see that it has been pulled. We seem to have the anti-Midas touch when it comes to law school videos: everything we link to gets yanked. See, e.g., here (Harvard) and here (Columbia).

A little bit more, after the jump.

So, whaddya think? Have you added it to your YouTube favorites yet? Here’s additional info:

These clips aren’t too far from what she wears to school every day. The 1L’s this year have dressed a little skankier more provocatively than normal this year.

It appears [that this] video was uploaded by a modeling agency…. [and] other “models” have tried to have their videos pulled, but they do not own the copyright. Hypothetically, this video could stay up all the way through hiring season after her 1L year.

To the U. Miami Law community: Thanks to your many mentions in these pages — in addition to this YouTube gem, you’ve also given us an allegedly prostitute-soliciting professor; a train wreck of a People’s Court appearance, featuring a saucy current student and an even more saucy former professor; and UM alumna Oona O’Connell, now prominently featured on a site called Girls and Guns (look under the “Girls” tab) — you’ve been granted your very own ATL category tag. Congratulations!

P.S. Even though it appears on YouTube, please do not mention the name of this young woman in the comments. We don’t want to make it easier for prospective employers to Google her than it already is. Thanks.

C'mon you don't put that out there if you don't want people to see it. Furthermore, you'd think people would have a little more foresight if they are attending a professional school: employers can check YouTube!

Clearly all of you who questioned Oona's career choice are in for a taste of humble pie. She will not be denied!

Not that this video detracts in any way from this “1L’s” ability to be taken seriously as a lawyer in any way, but I predict that she will leave school on a hardship waiver and go pro before the end of her second year…..

Brilliant post.

Tough (or great) week for The University of Miami Law School (depending on your perspective).

Go Hurricanes!

(Yes, that is the actual name of the UM football team.)

Yes, Girls n's Guns, Girls tab, page 2--Oona O'Connell, holding what looks like the H & K compact 9 from the handguns page; kinda hard to tell from that angle.

Is this a paid gig, you think?

Cuz its Miami, fool.

What a minute, why am I talking like this? That website has poisoned my mind....I am Oona’s puppet…..must buy guns now….

But Lat, we want to know more about the UM 2L who got pwn3d on the People's Court. Go score an interview with him! You got the weird tattooed Regent guy, now go find punk-boy...

Lat - I'm not thinking she's too concerned about her privacy, given her myspace page that is set to public and contains all of the stills used in the montage, along with her full resume in the "profile" section...

Lat, seriously bro, is "Regentgate" really the best you could come up with for the Adam Key story? You're painful lack of naming creativity is really beginning to hurt the site. First it was all the awful SA names that you pulled out of your crapper. At least those had some kind of creativity though. Now you've just stooped to the same ol' lame recipe the traditional news media uses for a scandal: just add "gate" to the end of something. LAME!!!

If you really wanted to stick with the "gate" idea, the least you could have done was try something creative, like "Regent Renegate" or something. You can use that if you'd like, but I think we'd all really rather see you start putting some effort into your naming.

Does anybody else have problems with ATL causing their browser to crash? Often when I read through the comments and then I try to scroll back up to the original post, Firefox will freeze and shut itself down. Has anybody else encountered this?

Two general comments:

1) I would much rather employ a woman who takes the time to prepare herself to confront the world. It is easy to take shots at someone's appearance, but at least this lady made an attempt to maintain herself. It's the people who show up without makeup wearing sweatpants and sweatshirts that indicate a particular level of slothfulness that is unacceptable for potential hires.

2) Those who want to hang on to the reputation of their schools for the rest of their life will be extremely disappointed once they enter the real world. The only time I have been asked where I was graduating from was during my first job interview. The to wit question is: can you get the job done? Going to a top 20 school might open some doors but does nothing to advance your client's cause in court and says very little about your potential success as an attorney.

1:08 - yes, the better school opens doors, which subsequently opens more doors, etc., etc. We are speaking in generalities here of course, but just look at the resumes of partners in the top firms and I think you will notice a trend, the representation of law school alumni increases dramatically as you move from T1 in general, to top 20, to top 14, to top 6, to top 3. No one was suggesting a non-top law school could not serve their clients interests well, or that the girl would ask where you graduated law school from in determining whether to date you. But instead, the issue is that if you went to a top school you are more likely to make top pay at a top shop and this certainly does not hurt with the ladies, because we all know that money (and to some extent prestige) does matter, sorry. Also, while no one may have asked where you went to law school, I can guarantee that whenever you apply for a job at a firm, you list your law school and the interviewer probably looks at this.

too bad for the UM hater but a great number of partners at the top national firms in Miami are UM alum.
