Law & Order Comes to Kirkland & Ellis

Kirkland Ellis LLP logo Abovethelaw Above the Law blog.JPGAnd no, we’re not talking about their tough new standards for associate reviews, which have resulted in what might be called “soft layoffs” (and which we’ll be writing more about soon — we’ve received lots of great info after yesterday’s post).

We’re speaking more literally about Law & Order at Kirkland & Ellis. Check out this email from about an hour ago, which went out to the entire New York office:

Subject: Law & Order Filming Today

If you are on the 39th or 43rd floor today, you will notice that parts of the office are being used for filming. The television show Law & Order is using the office to film several scenes. This morning, they are working in the northeast corner of the 39th floor, and this afternoon they will film in Conference Room 43A.

I think of the show as the home-town TV show, since they film almost every day at locations everywhere in the city. So it’s exciting that now they are here. We don’t know when the episode will air that is filmed here, but we will be sure to let everybody know when the show is scheduled.

Thanks,
Carolyn

Is this as sexy as Cameron Diaz at Cadwalader? Maybe not. But at least K&E doesn’t have bed bugs.

P.S. It seems that law firms are doing very well in the celebrity sightings department these days. See also Michael Jackson at Venable.

Dear [names redacted],

Those of you with offices located in the northeast corner of the 39th floor with the exception of [name redacted] will need to vacate your offices by 11am in order to facilitate the filming of an episode of Law & Order. You might be well advised to remove your personal belongings from your offices as well. In fact, it is probably best if you simply clear out your offices and not come back.

If you have any questions, please fax them to [number redacted]

Sincerely.

Carolyn Marino

Cameron Diaz smells like corn chips. I don't think she washes her stank feet. She took her shoes off at Duvet and the whole joint reeked of vinegar and whole wheat.

Maybe they are shooting an episode about a fuggly, bratty, princess gets his, errrrr I mean her undies a wad over the flowers at her wedding. She then extorts, errrr, I mean sues the flower company. And then...

Bad job on the fake Kobe rumor. In NBA trades, the money has to match up, more or less. The combined salaries of Gordon, Thomas and Noah don't even come close to Kobe.

I recommend using the ESPN Trade Machine before floating fake NBA trade rumors. C'mon, 11:46. You're better than that.

Enough with the star sightings in NYC already. Maybe seeing some law and order actors is a big deal if you live in NYC or running across that scary looking crowd of sex and the city, but come out to Beverly Hills. I rode the elevator with Charlize Theron yesterday. Talk about smoking hot. And I frequently ride the elevator with much bigger names than the case of law and order. Beverly Hills is where its at, entertainment law firms abound. Seriously, enough with the b-list fugglies, if you want real celeb sightings look out west.

12:19 - You sound soooo cool. Can I touch you? At the very least let me stand close to you so I can bask in the twice reflected glory of celebrities.

yaaaaawwwnnnn... we had George Cloney, Sidney Pollak et. al here at 1301 Avenue of the Americas (Dewey & LeBoeuf, f/k/a Dewey Ballantine) for the filming of Michael Clayton.
Wake me up when you talk about some serious stuff, not just a second-tier TV show.

PS: The guy who claims saw Charlize in the elevator is a Douche

"George Cloney"?- what a scary thought. Just one of him is enough, let alone cloning him.

I'm so impressed with 12:19 AND 12:43.
