Renaming Boalt Hall: Please Cast Your Vote

Boalt Hall UC Berkeley Law School Above the Law blog.jpgAs we mentioned last week, U.C. Berkeley’s Boalt Hall School of Law hired a brand consulting firm to come up with a new name for the school. The effort ended somewhat anticlimactically. Boalt paid $25,000 to Marshall Strategy Inc., which came up with this brilliant new moniker: “UC Berkeley School of Law.”

Oh well. But since we already took the time to read through hundreds of suggested new names for Boalt Hall, we’re going to conduct this reader poll anyway.

Cast your vote, after the jump.

Way to feed the trolls with the WGWAG pick. Why don't you just announce the second-place winner instead, hm?

You can change the name, but not it's second tier status

But it's not TRUE wgwag. Look closely. It's white GUYS with asian GIRLS.

Originalist wgwags will not be happy. What would Justice Scalia say?

"You can change the name, but not it's second tier status"

You can repost, using the correct word ("its"), but that won't change your fourth tier status.

Solution to the ambiguity in WGWAG:

Caucasian Females with Asian Males

why are they changing the name of a top law school? i don't get it. ridiculous, stupid move. anyone who matters at the top levels knows WTF boalt is. when you're applying for a job just put "U.C. Berkeley Boalt School of Law" or whatever on your resume for any idiot legal personnel person who doesn't know. and say in conversation "i went to boalt law school, at UC berkeley" if you're that worried about stamping prestige all over your face in casual interactions.

why throw away a name with real history?

and (sigh) no, i didn't go to boalt. i went to a higher-ranked school, for the ha'penny that's worth. i'm just a cranky conservative at heart.

The Living WGWAG is adaptable in the face of evolving standards of decency and Asian girl hotness.

What happened to PETER THOTTAM School of Law? That was the best name considering the notoriety in the legal community over Thottam and his online whining, complaining, and begging.

Must have been Harvard. Nobody else would actually use "ha'penny" in a sentence.
Unless your woman's name is Penny, which is another matter entirely.

Here's prescient that confirms the originalist interpretation of WGWAG: http://www.abovethelaw.com/2007/07/legal_eagle_wedding_watch_june_1.php

Thanks for the typo correction, 3:53.

"... prescient [sic] = precedent. I'm on a lot of cold medicine. It's amazing I can even type. It's a good thing work's so slow these days.

Oh, and WGWAG.

I graduated from Boalt 11 years ago. During that time, when asked where I went to law school, my answer depends on with whom I am speaking. If it is someone associated with the legal profession, I say "Boalt." If not, I have always said "Berkeley" or "UC Berkeley." I would imagine most alums will still use this nomenclature.

The WGWAG trolls have annoyed me for months, but I have to admit it was all worth it. The cliche made this thread, or at least its predecessor, awesome.

I'm with 9:26. One of my suggestions is actually on the list, but I didn't vote for it. WGWAG is so much better- and so much more accurate, in Berkeley's case.
