(Former) Judge of the Day: James Michael Shull

James Shull Judge James Michael Shull James M Shull Above the Law blog.jpgOn some days, the posts just write themselves. From Blogonaut:

James Michael Shull is no longer a Virginia Judge, thanks to the decision of the Virginia Supreme Court that unanimously upheld his removal from the bench.

Shull’s misconduct on the bench included ordering a woman to pull down her pants in open court during a hearing—ostensibly to view a claimed injury—exposing everything not covered by a pair of g-string panties the woman was wearing.

If she was humiliated, she deserved it. What was she doing in a g-string? Everyone knows that acceptable courtroom attire is a sober black skirt suit -- with granny panties underneath.

Schull also decided child custody matters by tossing a coin in the air, initiated ex-parte contact with witnesses outside the presence of the attorneys for either side in a dispute, and was discourteous to litigants.

Independent of making them strip in open court, of course.

Low pay AND they can't make litigants strip? This is only going to further demoralize the judiciary.

10:34 - have we now shifted to a T14 system for law firms as well as law schools?

I assume that failure to be within V's T14 prestige rank automatically demotes firms to TTT ranks, right?

Wow - what a complete a-hole that guy is. Glad he's gone, but I have to question a system that would put a person like that in a position of power in the first place.

Given his infractions, I hope the judge's defrocking constituted an actual defrocking; followed by a depantsing and deunderwearing.

"I hope the judge's defrocking constituted an actual defrocking; followed by a depantsing and deunderwearing."

Is this something you'd really want to see?

"Schull also decided child custody matters by tossing a coin in the air..."

Apparently, he took the Night Court pilot too seriously.

Apparently, he watched a rerun of the pilot episode of Night Court.

The only woman who wear g-strings are hot. Its a hot woman thing.

You don't think Schull would have an ugly woman drop her drawrs, do you?

He's horny not stupid.

Check out the above tag "State Judges Are Clowns"

This is why ATL should win the dumb law blog contest.

I practice in another part of VA. Never been within 300 miles of this Judge's Court. Considering some of the things Judges have done and were not punished at all, this Judge definitely got hosed.

See the Peatross and Elliott cases for examples of the JIRC's inability to run a two car funeral

Of course the posts write themselves, Lat, when all you do is cut and paste.

Where is the Chicago crowd to defend his settling of the child custody dispute using a coin flip? He thereby attempted to demonstrate the versatility and broad applicability of the Coase Theorem.

Ordering people to strip in court is much cheaper than those $3000 strip club bills.

The woman who was ordered to drop trow is Tammy Giza.

According to the Virgina Sup. Ct. opinion linked to the Blogonaut post, the judge ordered her to pull down her pants in open court TWICE. The second time Shull left the bench to take a closer look.

A witness in the back of the court room during the incident testified that Tammy's buttocks were fully exposed.

Thank you, 1:58 pm, for simply repeating the facts contained in the article with absolutely no comment or argument. Brilliant. I love it when someone does an "article summary" for me in the comments section.

Dear 3:28:

The "facts" in my comment are not in Lat's post or in the article that is linked.

This is new info from the judicial opinion, partially in response to posters who are searching for chick-pics of the g-string clad 'V' Tamara Giza.

And as luck would have it, Tamara has a MySpace page, with these (and other) HOT pics:
