A Charney v. S&C Postscript: Congratulations to Gera Grinberg!
If Aaron Charney v. Sullivan & Cromwell ever gets turned into a movie, there will be a little epilogue at the end, to inform viewers of the fates of the dramatis personae. Here is our version of it.
Aaron Charney is believed to be happy, spending time with friends, and presumably enjoying those settlement proceeds. No word yet on his future employer (assuming he returns to the work force). Meanwhile, his erstwhile nemesis, partner Eric Krautheimer, passed the California bar and moved out to Los Angeles. He still works for S&C, but now gets to lead more of his own deals.
And what about Gera Grinberg, the former S&C associate who would have been a key witness in the case, who was joined at the hip — professionally, but not personally — with Aaron Charney? We’ve learned two pieces of good news about him:
First, he has landed himself a new job. We understand that he is now the general counsel to a small real estate development company.
Second, on the personal front, here’s some news that will put to rest any and all the rumors that he might be gay. Gera Grinberg is engaged (to a woman). His fiancee is a former associate at Kirkland & Ellis in New York, now working in-house for a large hotel company.
Congratulations and best wishes to Gera Grinberg and the future Mrs. Grinberg!
P.S. We still don’t know whether he has resolved any of his outstanding issues with S&C. But considering how well Grinberg’s life is going right now, both professionally and personally, maybe he should just let bygones be bygones?

Hey Lat, why are you pushing personal info about this guy into the public domain? He didn't bring the suit, he just happened to be friends with the person that brought the suit.
Why do you think it's ok to reveal personal information about him, his employment and his fiancee's employment to all of your readers? I guess you're willing to compromise whatever decency you have to up your readership. Bravo, your parents must be proud.

Gera got f*cked. I think S&C harassed Charney, but Charney's a shit anyway. He should have left Grinberg out of it.
I can't believe how people are not up in arms about the way S&C handled this. Not only did they clearly ignore Charney's complaints, but they destroyed Grinberg's career (at least at a big firm), because he was associated with Charney. Outrageous!
Having milked Charney v. S&C for all it was worth, Lat is now trying to squeeze a few more drops out of it. Well, it was good while it lasted.

On his job:
1. How "small" is this developer? Depending on how small they really are, this may not be a good gig for him in terms of prestige or paycheck.
2. What kind of RE Developer hires an M&A associate from a big firm to be its general counsel? Unless he has some other background, I can assure you that a 5th yr in the M&A group at S&C doesn;t know jack sh*t about real estate.

Without going into my opinions of L'Affaire Charney, I'll say that there is one very good reason to pick S&C over Cravath: S&C has several overseas offices, and a foreign posting is possible there. Cravath has a small outpost in London, and that's all. (Whether S&C is the top choice among London offices of U.S. firms is another matter.)
As a gay, I express deep opposition to the straights attempting to join themselves to my hip - unless of course they are (1) male; (2) hot; and (3) curious about what it's like to be naked and cavorting with another man.
At my school (it's a good one) law review people seem to flock to anything but Cravath (S&C, DPW, STB, CGSH, WACHTELL)
