Today reminds me of the time I let my 8 year old son take over behind the wheel during a long road trip across country. Sure we made it to Calli in the end but not before he ran over two cats, a dog and a crowd of Japanese tourists.

I've handled the driving myself ever since.

Lat blogged the whole "weirdest legal pleading ever" already.

i thought she did a good job and i enjoyed the posts.

you, on the other hand, are probably a pathetic ugly shit that feels better about himself by putting other people down. that's cool though... i hope you have fun with your right hand tonight.

4:54: i venture to say that since she is a 1L that has been covered extensively by major media stations and is posting on ATL, sharon has better career prospects than you. and presumably unlike you, she is also hot. hth.

5:00 -

I also was encouraging her. She didn't do an amazing job today, but people have been taking themselves way too seriously on this blog. She's received an unfair amount of criticism (ironically, much of it inane in its own right). I actually think Lat's more to blame in that this was entirely foreseeable. ATL may not be the venue for her, but seriously she did fine and my life is no worse off for her having blogged today. So again, keep your chin up SEN.

avatar
26 Posted by 4:55, not SEN | Permalink Friday, March 7, 2008 6:07 PM

5:41: that is incorrect. 4:55 was "totally" me, a 3L with a job lined up in NY at a law school far far away from alabama. how can i prove it to you?

e.g. a 1L would not be studying securities regulation and currently outlining the details of shelf registration statements. would you like me to tell you all about a PIPEs offering?

if sec reg doesn't float your boat perhaps i can tell you all about the hearsay exceptions (at least what i remember of them from last semester)?

or are you sufficiently satisfied that i am not a 1L?

all i was getting at with my post is that only a bunch of mean-spirited assholes would be so harsh on a 1L who did a damn good job blogging on ATL for the day. i thought her posts were interesting and she put up way more of them than lat ever does... people need to have a heart.

i genuinely enjoyer reading ATL today, as i always do, and i hope she continues to blog on this site.

4:55, you're the one that comes across as a mean-spirited asshole, especially your 5:09 post. You jumped at a chance to let loose the person you really are because you felt the other poster was morally exempt.

Also, SEN did a horrible job blogging today. Her posts weren't substantive, on the whole, and the sheer number of them diluted what little substance was there. She has a preachy website about good grammar, but her grammar is worse than a lawyer's should be. She's at the same time haughty and underqualified, but she's not aware of the latter because she's at a lowly ranked school in the South.

avatar
29 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, March 7, 2008 6:17 PM

6:07: You're so talented, to be able to outline (outline??) shelf regs and figure out PIPEs while reading ATL all day! Hopefully you can do the same when drafting and negotiating them for real deals. Oh yeah, btw, the mean-spirited assholes will be your colleagues, your friends, and opposing counsels. Have fun!

I think it's the xoxo crowd ruining this site and hurling the insults. I'm at a top school and I can tell who the smug pricks are that are likely xoxo regulars. Funny thing is, they are usually the ones that shouldn't be at a top school at all. I guess the insecurity of not matching up to their peers leads them to attack others. I used to read xoxo for the odd interesting tidbit. No longer. I hope SEN doesn't take any of this garbage to heart.

33 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, March 7, 2008 8:11 PM

7:56-- I couldn't agree more.

People who need kindergarten-style stars on their foreheads to assess their self worth get a massive shot to their egos when they are put into a competitive law school or law firm setting.

They are utterly humbled by their surroundings. To reaffirm their self-worth, they need to be able to say, "at least I'm superior to THAT person!"

Thus, you have today's situation at ATL: A group of aggressive, frustrated people attacking Sharon anonymously online.

She makes for an easy target and a painless way for them to feel good about themselves.

I too hope that Sharon doesn't take it to heart, and understands the source of the negative comments.

If every one of her posts had the name David Lat under it, nobody would even realize that there was anything different going on today.

8:11, if you weren't here for like an hour she had some nonsensical post up about how to pronounce a word she failed to even identifyl. actually she had 3 of the same posts up in a row. then she posted something Lat posted 2 weeks ago. and she posted a CWT "tip" that was actually some dumbass comment post that was obviously made up. and her commentary sucks, see the roger clemons post.

she objectively was a total failure today. sorry but that's fact, apart from your ad hominems.

12:24:

SEN certainly is hot. I think most of the posters here -- even SEN's detractors --will agree with that, unless said posters are very gay or very jealous and female.

And no, there is nothing wrong with having an affinity for fake blondes with Southern accents who refer to themselves as girls instead of womyn. In fact, I'm heading out to Las Vegas right now for a little R&R this weekend with some of my favorite fake blondes. Fake blondes are what make the world go round. It's why I became a lawyer.

That's okay, though. You have a great personality, Jailbird, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

This was one of the worst days ever for ATL. SEN must go (and never return).

I can deal with Lat's occasional lapses and his less than perfect habits because I know he has the credentials and experience to lend credibility to his opinions and musings.

SEN is just a stupid kid who doesn't know fuck about shit. I don't care what she has to say and I hate wasting my time on her drivel.

Now, before you tell me to just stop reading this site if I don't like SEN, let me remind you: this site is designed for me-- for lawyers at top tier firms, accustomed to high quality work and play. It caters to topics I care about and I like that. I like to visit and take a quick break every few hours to enjoy the ATL distractions.

But, take this to heart, Lat, I ONLY like to visit because I can rely on you, a peer with excellent taste and fine judgment, to present something worth my time. If you continue to compromise that essential ingredient, this blog will whither and die or, worse, end up a haven for inane law students and the otherwise unimpressive.
