Not Just Creepy, But Criminal: Uma Thurman's Stalker Convicted
At around noon, the jury reached a guilty verdict in the week-long trial of Jack Jordan, alleged stalker of Uma Thurman. The jury deliberated for one full day. Presumably the jurors were moved by the beautiful actress's dramatic reading from Jordan's disturbing correspondence.
Jordan was convicted of stalking and aggravated harassment. Sentencing is set for June 2nd.
Jordan, by the way, is rather well-educated. He's a 1994 grad of the University of Chicago (undergrad, not law), who has also done some graduate work. But he's had mental health issues over the years; in late 2005, he was involuntarily committed. He rejected a plea deal that would have placed him in a mental facility for 18 months.
Thurman testified that she was terrified by Jordan's overtures. But if he had tried to do her harm, we suspect he would have encountered a world of hurt. If you've seen Kill Bill, you know that Uma Thurman is a badass.

It's really no surprise he resorted to stalking, given the social scene (if one can call it that) in Hyde Park these days.
If you aren't attracted to mousy women with an affinity for ultimate frisbee and a penchant for quoting Pynchon, I'm afrad you're out lof luck.
2:18 -- you're probably continuing to promote that stupid stereotype about the U of C because none of those "mousy women" would even look at you. U of C's students are no different than at other good schools, so get over yourself.
Hyde Park is about to become the coolest neighborhood on the planet, after Obama wins the presidency.
Fact: H. Rodgin Cohen wears David Lat pajamas.
Fact: Before he goes to bed Jim Sandman checks his closet for Kashmir Hill.
Fact: Fear is not the only emotion David Lat can smell. He can also detect hope, as in "I hope I don't get profiled on Above The Law by David Lat.”
Fact: A study showed the leading causes of death among partners in the AmLaw 100 are: 1. Heart disease, 2. David Lat, 3. Cancer.
Kill Bill is arguably the best movie made ever

sorry, no dice. The problem with students at the law school (which I'm assuming you are) is that you don't get out of the bubble on 60th. You limit yourself to a population of ~575 law students.
There are some exceedingly hot women at Chicago. There are some exceedingly hot women living in Hyde Park. This is really just an inevitability: There are almost 15,000 combined students (grad+undergrad) at U of C. 15,000. There are plently of very good looking women.
Now, proportionately ... I probably wouldn't disagree. You might very well find that proportionately, there are less 'very hot' women than at other schools. But, magnitude wise, there's a bunch. Besides which, the difference in proportionality is often made up by the fact that the {hot women} at chicago has a high percentage of {extremely intelligent} women. So, it's a 1-2 punch that you're far less likely to find at the more traditional 'hot' schools.
No. I am not dating anyone at the school. But I wouldn't have a lack of options if I wanted to. Expand your horizons.
