Getting To Know You, Getting To Know All About You
We realize that we're constantly sending surveys and polls your way. That's because blogging is an interactive medium -- which is a good thing. We talk to you, and you talk back to us. We couldn't do our jobs without all the tips and info we get from you, via email, comments, and yes, surveys.
Anyway, we hope that one more survey won't kill you. Please take a few seconds to fill out our anonymous reader survey, which gives us a sense of our readership demographics. You can access the survey by clicking here.
And please don't overlook the final question, in which you can offer us editorial feedback -- what you like, what you dislike, and what you'd like to see more or less of in these pages. Thanks.
P.S. In case you find the educational categories a little confusing, "post grad work" means you've done some post-graduate work, but aren't done yet (e.g., you're in law school). "Post grad degree" means that you have completed at least one post-graduate degree. If you have one such degree, like a JD or a master's degree, but are in the process of getting another, like an LLM or PhD, check off the "post grad degree" box.
Above the Law Reader Survey [SurveyMonkey.com]

"What legal blogs other than AboveTheLaw do you enjoy reading?"
Objection. Lack of foundation.
The poll is overtly aimed at marketing this site. You could have at least made an effort to disguise that intent. As it stands, I backed out and didn't post my response.
What in the world do frequency of flight and destination have to do with this? And using the internet to research cars?
That last question made me hit the "back" button and not submit any answers at all.
Blatant market trolling disguised as "a survey." Give me a break.
@2:06 - agreed, the whole poll is clearly a ploy to get information for advertisers. Don't fall for it people!
What? ATL is a profit-making enterprise funded by advertising?
The horror! The horror!
Duh. Of course it's for marketing: "which gives us a sense of our readership demographics...."
We help you get rich enough already.
In case you turds missed it, you are not obligated to respond to the survey.
Wow that was a shameless survey
I too opted not to submit
C'mon people, does it really bother you that ATL wants to sell advertising space? Selling more ads = more money to spend on blog = better blog.
@2:19, yes we are! Our computer hard drives will melt if we do not respond within the next 14 minutes and 45 seconds!
Oh wait a minute, did I just admit that I'm a turd? Never mind....
Why are you all getting annoyed that Lat wants to make the site as successful as possible? You can read and enjoy the site, but you feel that this should be a non profit org or something? What a bunch of jerks.

Whats the big deal? The survey is anonymous, and took less than a minute to complete. A couple of questions were a little odd and random -- where you have flown in the last 30 days, have you used the net to research cars -- but far from invasive of my privacy.
This site isn't a nonprofit and there is no reason why it should be. I don't see the harm in giving them a minute of my time to help them generate some advertising dollars so they can keep it running.

I didn't submit either. I don't mind helping Lat sell adspace to car companies and airlines, but tell us if that's what you're doing! The post made it sound like he wanted to know more about us as lawyers/ people in order to shape the contents of the blog. I sincerely doubt he's going to be posting in the near future about the problems lawyers have with car shopping... but maybe he will prove me wrong.
I just keep taking the survey and submitting fake answers.
I only use the internet to research motorcycles, because I'm a badass.
Every answer I submitted was an outright lie.
I never graduated high school---Should I be reading this blog?
I filled out the survey. Why not? The only reason ATL is free is that it's relatively small readership makes a ton of money. Surveys like this let Lat sell that fact.
I hope this means more rolex and phillip patek ads. Rich folk love them some time keepin'.
I'm much happier seeing airline and car ads than the ridiculous amount of John McCain ads that were up a while ago. It made me feel like my patronage to the site was a betrayal of my beloved Barack :-(
2:55 -- "I don't mind helping Lat sell adspace to car companies and airlines, but tell us if that's what you're doing!"
You can't do that outright because it would skew the results. It would be like conducting a psychological study and telling the subjects exactly what you're testing for.
But the post is filed under "Advertising," which should be a hint.

I don't care that you're trying to sell ads, but at least you could have customized the survey to your readership.
