ATL Lady Justice Caption Contest Finalists: Time to Vote!

Lady Justice.jpg

We had over 200 entries in the ATL Lady Justice caption contest. We’ve narrowed the field to our ten favorites, and listed them in order of posting time. You get to vote for the best one.

A. “One more push and we’ll have room for that ten commandments statue…”

B. “Lady Justice, I sued my drycleaner for $5M and lost. What should I do now?”

C. After being screwed so much by the Bush administration, a doctor confirms that Lady Justice has become pregnant.

D. “I don’t care who you are, nobody gets into this building with a headscarf.”

E. Upholding justice, literally…

F. I’m sorry, but as the hiring partner at Paul Hastings, I have to check.

G. It’s about time somebody pushed back against Justice.

H. The DC Circuit just ruled in our favor. We will soon be able to use paper money without needing everything to be in singles.

I. Attempted statutory rape.

J. I’m sorry; we don’t permit justice in the Texas court system.

We’ll give you the real story behind the photo, along with the winning caption, next week.

FIRST off, there are so many good entries, unlike the last caption contest. Difficult to choose, but I'm going with statutory rape.

Either the grammar in C is wrong or the there's been some doctor-screwing I don't know about.

avatar
3 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, June 6, 2008 1:52 PM

Some of those are just bad and not even worthy of being voted on.

avatar
4 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, June 6, 2008 1:55 PM

Painfully unfunny. Each and every one.

avatar
5 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, June 6, 2008 1:59 PM

F is crass and disrespectful to the young lady who left Hastings, but it's so funny I voted for it.

avatar

This is the best lineup we've had, and almost all are truly hilarious.

Good submissions, good choices.

I vote A, but they're all so good.

I agree with 1:45. Most of these are great (except for E and I, which are groaners).

My favorites are B, C, and F. In the end I went with F.

H has a sublety to it that I couldn't turn away from. It had layers - the "we"; the non-mention of "blind". It's like a writer for "The Simpsons" submitted a vote right here on ATL.

The only option that was even remotely amusing was J.

2:11 - No way. "J" is so heavy-handed. You must be a humorless death penalty opponent.

avatar
12 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, June 6, 2008 2:26 PM

You are correct 1:45, C should be disqualified on grounds of grammar. The Bush administration has been accused of many things, but screwing doctors is not one of them.

best caption contest ever. i voted for B but i really liked most of the choices.

14 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, June 6, 2008 2:35 PM

Of course, most of the liberal weenies on this site are going to vote for the anti-bush comment, despite the fact that it's not funny.

There are some really good entries, but I think the clear winner is I.( Attempted statutory rape)

15 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, June 6, 2008 2:38 PM

As a liberal weenie I did not vote for the Bush one, because it was not funny (unlike some of the earlier ones). Voted for D, but A and J are also funny.

avatar
16 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, June 6, 2008 2:46 PM

As a liberal weenie, the Bush one is ungrammatical - just like this post.

avatar
17 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, June 6, 2008 2:51 PM

Dear 2:46, a.k.a. Sen,
Please take your pathetic whining about poor grammar elsewhere. It's not appreciated around these parts. This is a gossip blog, not a model of literary style.

Sincerely,
I REFUSE TO JUDGE GRAMMAR.

F is messed up.

And I voted for it.

avatar
19 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, June 6, 2008 3:09 PM

C and F are the coolest. Most of the others suck. 63.7% of the voters would seem to agree.

Dear 2:51, a.k.a. C -

Make me.

Sincerely,

I liked "miscarriage of justice". Much better than E, and better than most of the others. Not as good as C or F, but should've made the cut.

avatar
22 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, June 6, 2008 3:14 PM

F is F'in Fantastic.

23 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, June 6, 2008 3:17 PM

B is awesome, I'm surprised it's not doing better. The guy looks and even dresses like Roy Pearson:

F is definitely the best. All the liberal weenies are coming out strong for C though, so it looks like it might win. I can't believe they are voting for screwing doctors, doesn't even make any sense.

avatar
25 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, June 6, 2008 4:15 PM

(I) is the only one that is even remotely funny. Statutory rape. Heh.

avatar
26 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, June 6, 2008 4:17 PM

The fact that C and F are winning shows just how many tools reside in the legal profession.

avatar
27 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, June 6, 2008 4:17 PM

attempted statutory rape is really funny- somehow i missed that one when i voted.

avatar
28 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, June 6, 2008 4:20 PM

Some of those are just painful - none are very good....

avatar
29 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, June 6, 2008 4:41 PM

I'm a little late to the party, but how's this:

"This is the closest I've gotten to a "woman" in a long time. Has California legalized this sort of union yet?"

avatar
30 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, June 6, 2008 4:59 PM

4:41, you're boring.

avatar
31 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, June 6, 2008 5:13 PM

" Sorry maam, we have a candidate"

avatar
32 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, June 6, 2008 5:21 PM

if statutory rape doesn't win, there is no justice in this world.

avatar
33 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, June 6, 2008 5:25 PM

F. It would be a miscarriage of Paul Hastings justice if F loses.

avatar
34 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, June 6, 2008 10:54 PM

These are all abysmal. I have seen funnier comments on the side of a bathroom stall.

Suck my balls, you stupid monkeys.

It was no big deal.

WGWAG.

avatar
35 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, June 6, 2008 10:56 PM

I really hate all of you so much.

avatar
36 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, June 6, 2008 11:01 PM

These really all generally suck festering goat testicles, however, the fact that C & F are in the lead is, as the earlier douchecocktard stated, a testament to the utter wiggedy-wackedness of the ATL readership.

I hope you all spontaneously combust during this weekend's heat wave.

Yo yo diggedy dogs, just found out about diss ill site i jusst started at Cooleyo Law School, madd ill up heare. Im feelin C man, the president has really huort this country mans. That makes C da illinest.

These are pretty awful.

avatar
39 Posted by guest | Permalink Saturday, June 7, 2008 10:31 AM

I can't believe the crap that is winning.

Choice "A" is easily the best. A very sharp commentary, and quite funny, too. Perfect caption. People, wake up and vote "A."

avatar
40 Posted by guest | Permalink Saturday, June 7, 2008 11:05 AM

5:13 wins

avatar
41 Posted by guest | Permalink Saturday, June 7, 2008 12:53 PM

D is by far the best.... C is not at all clever: it's too easy. F is too esoteric, but I can see why people are voting for it. Still, D wins on brevity and punch, at the very least.

avatar
42 Posted by guest | Permalink Sunday, June 8, 2008 3:12 PM

Bout time somebody brought D into the picture. It's a strong third. C's grammatically screwed up and F only appears to wonkish legal nerds [i admit I laughed, but I subtracted points for obscurity]. Which leaves D as the clear winner.

The popularity of (c) just shows that the average lawyer/law student is just as politically inept as the average swing voter.

"Ohhh, (C) makes fun of Pres. Bush! OMG, that's trendy right?"

avatar
44 Posted by guest | Permalink Monday, June 9, 2008 10:12 AM

5:25 - it is not trendy; people have been doing it for more than 8 years. It is no secret that Bush Jr. is not one of our smartest presidents. Where have you been? My guess is you were a teenager at the time.

(c) is funny because there is at least *some* truth to it. Like invading a sovereign country who did not attack us, under false pretenses? Or torturing prisoners? These things do not seem very just (or American) to a lot of people, yet Bush STILL thinks absolutely nothing is wrong with them. Do these things seem just to you?

Stop watching Fox news and listening to talk radio and learn to think for yourself.

No need to say it three times, but it is funnier than any of the listed choices for sure.
