George Bush, Arrested on Cocaine Possession Charges
No, not that George Bush (although when George W. Bush was young and irresponsible, he was young and irresponsible). Meet George deVallon Bush, a prominent criminal defense attorney in Augusta, Georgia. From the Augusta Chronicle:
[George Bush] was taken into custody at a Broad Street bar as the result of an ongoing investigation, Sheriff Ronnie Strength said Monday night. He is charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, according to jail records. Sheriff Strength said the arrest was part of a two-week investigation by the federal Drug Enforcement Agency and Richmond County sheriff’s narcotics agents.
“Mr. Bush was arrested without incident about 5 p.m. at Ballroom Billiards, 978 Broad Street, with a half-ounce of cocaine in his pocket,” Sheriff Strength said.
“That’s a little more than typically used for personal use,” said Richmond County sheriff’s Sgt. Greg Meagher.
Sergeant Meagher, you’re talking about an attorney, dammit. Please revise your blow consumption estimate upward.
Mr. Bush is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and the University of Georgia. He opened his Fourth Street law practice in 1994.In November 2000, Mr. Bush was featured in Mademoiselle magazine in a beef-cake style election spoof about the Republican presidential candidate who shares his name.
And now perhaps they share more than just a name. Congratulations, Mr. Bush — you’re our Lawyer of the Day.

Guys at my high school used to sell kilos of coke, they were guessin' they could sell CDs, all the time, it was no big deal.
first to yawn
First to say Jersey Shore sluts rock-
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..............
Remarkably boring.
Not really much else to do in Augusta.
Grotesque.
first to actually fall asleep
I met a guy named Dick Cheney once and it was so funny because... oh wait I fell asleep.
Sherrif Strength? Awesome!
Why is the federal DEA involved in this? Seems like a pretty small amount to have a "two-week investigation"
They must have finally caught all the big-fish
Vanderbilt & Georgia are TTT's!
What is TTT? I have been reading atl for a while, keep seeing ttt but still don't know what it stands for. Take mercy and provide an answer
What is the deal with lawyers and drugs? Last year, we had an attorney snorting a line in the mens room of the courthouse. WTF. Are lawyers addicts or just self-destructive?
4:21 - I'm feeling generous: (1) It means "Third Tier Toilet," so law schools in the US News third tier (and former fourth tier). (2) But on here it typically means anything not V5/10/20 (one of Vault's 5/10/20 most prestigious firms) or T2/3/6/10/14 (US News's top 2/3/6/10/14 schools). (3) Basically, it means anywhere crappier than where you work or go/went to school, or (4) applied more generally, anything crappy (e.g., The Love Guru). (Or (5) it's likely that someone is simply referring to GULC.)
I smell entrapment. DEA involvement confirms a larger investigation than a chance bar bust.
4:44 PM asks: "Are lawyers addicts or just self-destructive?"
Yes.
4:44 - I think the reasoning is as follows (not mine--I'm clean): Lots of money, lots of stress, not a lot of timen and getting drunk only does so much.
The number of people whom I've heard of picking up habits (particularly coke) has surprised me. It's not everyone, but more
3:06 - Nice Jay-Z reference.
4:44 A lot of folks in the restuarant/bar/club scene do it. For the customers it helps them party hard. For the employees it helps them stay awake and deal with drunken assholes.
For a Fed Soc. guy, Lat is pretty liberal. Hillary Clinton is "delicious" yet Bush is compared to a d-bag lawyer sharing the same name and Lat insinuates that the Pres. did coke (which is unsubstantiated).
Are any of the fed-soc members (which is allegedly so right-wing according to liberal interest groups) at Yale, even Republicans?
Fed-Soc is heavily LiberTTTarian.
3:23 points for Heller reference.
Why would DEA concern themselves with such? Wake up people!! The government is out of control. It is obvious Bush was targeted. If intent was Bush's motive one would think there would be more evidence. DEA???? For a partying lawyer???
