Hot Lawyer of the Day? Welcome a New Website

HotAttorney Hot Attorney.jpgOn the one hand, we wish we had come up with the idea for Hot Attorney ourselves (gavel bang: Thrillist). On the other hand, it has the potential to spiral out of control, a la the Skadden hotties contest. So maybe it's just as well that we're not hosting it on ATL (where commenters can get rowdy).

The Hot Attorney website is explained well by Thrillist:

Everyone knows lawyers can be useful for boring stuff like antitrust suits and that Scopes Trial thing, but can they get a bunch of schlubs into a nightclub, or slyly cleavage their way out of a speeding ticket? These lawyers can: Hot Attorney.

Started by two outside-the-box e-pervs, HA's goal is to catalog counselors so smokin, it's basically like Law & Order without all the dudes, or Benjamin Bratt. All the goods're pulled from the firms' own sites, with luscious litigators from Portland to Stockholm coming from both emailed tips and the proprietors' own diligent 'net research -- dozens of hours of accidentally looking at photos of men named Courtney.

Beyond daily posts, HA's also loaded with special sections like Appointed Counsels (reader-selected), a profile-click-dictated Supreme Court, even Pretty Paralegals, because the people actually doing the work can be hot, too.

Unlike the Skadden hotties contest, nominees can -- and probably will, with some regularity -- withdraw themselves from consideration:

Even though all the info/photos're publicly available, the HA guys'll axe any profiles if the featured hottie finds it offensive -- because everyone knows that the thing lawyers're most useful for is ruining everybody's fun.

To check out some of the winners thus far, click here, then scroll down the page. The honoree for June 30 was Denise Gitsham of K&L Gates, featured in ATL back in March for being a former contestant on The Bachelor.

One quibble: Where are the male hotties? If men were eligible to be Hot Attorney of the Day, we'd throw our support behind Jeremy Anderson, an SMU Law grad and former Hunton & Williams associate. Jeremy is one of the two finalists made it to the final three in the latest season of The Bachelorette (season finale on ABC, today at 8 PM).

Update: Hot Attorney, RIP. As noted by a commenter, the site has been taken down:

Didn't Jeremy get kicked off last week?

Correction: Jeremy was actually voted off last week. He hilariously made the driver stop the car because he was so overcome with emotion as he had to pose in front of a tree in his despair. Check out "The Soup."

Pssh yeah, I got excited for this until I read that it's not including that rarest of breeds, the hot male attorney.

Not paying any attention now.

None of these women qualify as hotties. Ugh. Bias much?

Guys in my high school aspired to be hot female lawyers all the time. It was no big deal.

A pathetic website for pathetic people.

Also, guaranteed lawsuits, even if subjects can ask to be taken down. Guaranteed.

There's literally maybe 3 or 4 women of color. And I don't mean fake-baked, otherwise it would be at least a 1/3 of them being women of color. Not saying there should be affirmative action or anything, but if you're going to put up mostly white girls, can we get some who are actually hot in real life?

The idea is a good one - but this is pretty poorly executed.

But yes, the Pretty Paralegal is smokin

Seriously, who thinks any of these women are hot? We need real hotties up there please.

Am I the only one who got a suspicious pop-up when I checked out that site? Something like "Out of Memory at Line 1." - with a box that I had to check "OK". It looked like a box that was custom made to dump a bunch of spyware on my computer. I used Task Manager to dump the application, but don't be surprised if you start getting random popups or other unauthorized activities on your computer if you go to that site.

As a few commenters already noted, Jeremy is not "one of the two finalists." (See below). He still had more staying power than any previous attorney-contestant on "The Bachelor(ette)." Hope he bounces back and puts those BarBri posters to good use.

"Oh oh oh, Jeranilla is going home. He appears slapped in the face and cannot look at her. WE feel bad for him, as he tells her he was all about her from the beginning, but she says she was worried that their bond was over dead parents and not love. He's never had his heart broken like this before, he must get out of the limo and walk around as he is driving away and we are a little worried that he might throw up. Really, he would be such a good bachelor if he were not so closed off inside. R.I.P., Jeranilla. But really, you're an attorney so we all knew you were on Borrowed Time on this show."

It is so stupid to start a website like Hot Attorney and then shut it down as soon as people notice it.

Isn't the point of such a website to get noticed?

WFT! It was pulled down before I could even look at it once... lame.
