FIRST to point out that AU Law is the TTTest of TTT law schools.
GULC, 2007
The Hiring Partner Blog looks legit to me.
Hiring partner is too nice and helpful to be an actual hiring partner.
where did that come from 1?
Hiring Partner Blog = New (but slightly more helpful) stunt from that guy who created the Anonymous Lawyer book/blog?
I don't know, 4, I think that's just what they do at GULC.
Or that's just what they do at GW to make GULC look dumb and bump themselves up a spot.
That hiring partner blog has all the earmarks of being written by the recruiting coordinator. What hiring partner at a major law firm has time to do this?
Hiring Partner blog is definitely not legit.
First, why would a real hiring partner ever do something like that?
Second, even if there is at least one weird hiring partner out there who wants to right an advice column for summer associates, you can be sure that the partner's name and firm would be listed. Does anyone know a partner or firm that isn't all about self promotion? Why would they pass up this opportunity to get their name out there?
Third, the blog is written in an amateurish style.
Since we're already over-sharing, how much money down on that condo? 2nd bed is the home office?
Hiring Partner Blog sounds definitely like Jeremy Blachman, the guy who wrote Anonymous Lawyer.
Where's HofstraMagna lately? Wonder if he's gonna show up to the Prawfstra meetup...
Hiring Partner Blog sounds nothing like Anonymous Lawyer.
uh, #8, when you misuse the word "right" you probably shouldn't be critiquing someone else's writing.
Hiring Partner sounds much more like a recruiter. In fact, he gave himself away in the first paragraph of the first post. First, he says "I am the hiring partner." But then in the last sentence of the same paragraph, he says "I work with a recruiting committee and consult with the firm's hiring partner." Unless he consults with himself, he is not the HP. Oops!
Also, the third post contains the awesome irony of the following statement directly following a diatribe about a summer who failed to proofread his work: "Yes, several of this items are basic, but apparently that is what's needed: some basic advice."
Hiring Partner blog is definitely not real.
14/8:57: good catch. The tone of the blog does make the author sound like a youngish recruiting coordinator, and the awkward sentence would fit that theory. Even if that is the case, I don't think the advice is all that bad.
How was subtledig.com not included in this?
9:46: true, the advice isn't bad, but law students can get the exact same advice in pamphlets from their career services office. In fact, come to think of this, the blog may be written by a law school career services employee and not a BigLaw person at all.

Hiring Partner Blog uses phrases like "btw" and is generally way too casual to be legit.
14, he didn't say he was the firm's hiring partner. He said he was the hiring partner for one of the firm's offices. As such, he would have to consult with the firm's hiring partner quite often I would suspect.
Not that I believe the blog is legit, just pointing out the error in your logic.
I call BS on the Hiring Partner nonsense. Sounds fake.
I am the hiring partner at Wachtell. I post on ATL occasionally. I right a lot of comments, btw. WATCH OUT FOR ME!
Hiring partner sounds obnoxious, self-centered, and whiney. "Why don't law students kiss my toes? Why are they so damn self-respecting? I'll get back at them by making fun of that one girl who cried!" Oh, shut up, hiring partner. You DO sound like the real deal. But don't forget, you're not even at a top 100 firm. Your firm probably won't even exist in five years, after it merges with another crappy firm. So stop trying to remind yourself of how superior you are and remember that you're just some shitty lawyer at a shitty law firm. End rant.
23, you just proved that Hiring Partner not the only "obnoxious, self-centered, and whiney" one.
