Open Thread: Bar Exam Results For Illinois
We offer those who passed the Illinois bar (and those that sadly did not) a chance to come together to share their stories of triumph and consequence.
Find out your score (or the scores of your friends or enemies) here. Though be forewarned, the site will not load until the exam takers have been notified over email.
Have at it in the comment threads.

first
Did a lot of people fail this year? Why is this worthy of a thread?
#2 - Because Elie MysTTTal thinks so.
it won't load! worthless.
How difficult would it be to just send a mass email to those that passed and another to those that failed? Why even bother with the website? Or at least have enough bandwith on the website to handle the traffic. REDICULOUS.
What's up with the title of this post? "Bar Examine Results ..."? Maybe HLS should start offering a spelling and grammar course.
#5 - I think the word you're looking for is Redonkulous.
Elie -- what defunct Geocities website did you get that graphic from?
what is an Illinois?
-NYC Resident
The site loads but there are no results posted. COME ON ! what a crappy post about nothing
I hear OVER 9000 people passed.
WHAT? 9000??
Of course the results are supposed to be out but the website crashed.
July 09 IL Bar taker
dude. there are enough *concerned* people who are flooding the ibaby website right now.
can you please suspend this notification until those of us who really care get our results. the delay is in part caused by the overload of people on ibaby.
seriously.
Um, no. There will be no list. Individuals who took the Illinois bar will get an email and will be able to log in and view their individual results. But there will be no LIST of who passed and who didn't.
FAIL post.
"Examine"? Seriously, Elie, I'm going to ask Dean Kagan to investigate whether you got your degree legitimately. You are an embarrassment to HLS.
Why is the IL website called "ibaby"???
See number 14 and 15.
Elie, you're really great and I like you a lot and I hope you don't let the vicious naysayers indigenous to ATL get you down. That said, you really should be careful to proofread (and not just spellcheck) your posts a few times to avoid giving them fodder for petty comments.
ibaby = Illinois Board of Admission to the Bar...and You.
No, that is not a joke, that is really what the website says.
The Apple iBaby. Now with self-changing diaper and trendy touchscreen.
17 - Sadly, they decided to name the website the "Illinois Board of Admission to the Bar . . . And YOU!" That's IBABY for short. This is why I choose to practice elsewhere...
I really believe at this point that Elie's typos and grammatical errors are intentional. They result in at least 3 or 4 people commenting on said mistakes in every post. He cannot be as dumb or lazy as he would have us believe.
the bar is demeaning enough. i resent having to go to a site called ibaby.
I think people with high LSAT scores should be exempt from taking the bar exam.
LSAT is the best predictor of life sucess, correct?
success
Nope, actually it's people with giant c*#ks; sorry 25.
25 - Please go stand in the center lane of a highway.
28--Don't you want me to stand on the side of the highway, so you can pick me up in your cab?
how is this post remotely relevant to the WILDMAN HARROLD debacle?
I heard that WILDMAN HARROLD guarantees their attorneys have passed the bar exam!
Dude this is killer. Fn ibaby. They charge buckets of money and can not even do a simple list. Stop trying to be so fancy with the personal message crap.

There is still nothing. This is worthless, why won't they tell us
"Anyone who uses the terms a whole nother, irregardless, and all of the sudden will be sent to a work camp.” - Stewie Griffen
Or people that spell "ridiculous" with an E. (cough) 5 (cough)
Do some people already know whether they passed, then? I thought all emails would be sent as a group, but it sounds as though messages really are being sent individually. My last name is toward the end of the alphabet, so if messages are being sent A-Z, I may not find out whether I passed until November.
The IBABY website has apparently been nuked.
What is the Wildman debacle?
I am a "c" and still nothing.
I'm a "B" and nothing. So much for letting us know by the "close of business".
That is bs. Why tell us they would let us know, even if results were not ready, and then not do so? Pretty damn unprofessional for a Board of Examiners.
I just read a report saying the IL passage rate was way down on this exam--to a flat 70%, as compared to 80% on the previous two exams. Not good news.
I'm an "A" and I've got nothing.
42 here: also, I made that statistic up
Just trying to pass the time between commercials in the Sox/Twins game (Go Twins!).
42, nice trolling.
29 - sorry, i dont pick up shemales.
Damn you. I was freaking. Still am because I have a strong feeling I am in that 20%.
If the beginning of the alphabet still hasn't heard anything, I've gotta think there's just one mass email notification coming soon.
Let's hope it's soon, at least. I have a bad feeling I'll be checking all night only to find out nothing will be posted until later this week.
How long does it take to send out some email & load files to a website anyway? And these are the people judging us?
Yeah I'm feeling that way as well. Such bs. Damn IBABY.
47, FWIW, I think the passage rate for first-time takers was actually something like 89% on the last exam. Might be 1-2% lower (can't remember now), but definitely higher than 80%.

"Here’s how we expect it to work."
Has anyone called Ibaby?
Apparently the "you've passed" email just went out (mine is time-stamped 6:55 p.m.). *Whew*
Congrats to everyone who got the email, sorry to everyone still waiting.
just kidding, I'm still waiting too
--42
good try 54, but the e-mail merely tells you that its uploaded already, you need to log on to get the results (when they're finally up).
Jerk
F! Congrats. What did the email say?
54 flame
54 is full of shit.

DELAYED RELEASE OF EXAMINATION RESULTS
July 2008 bar examinees PLEASE watch your individual emailboxes rather than the website for news from the Board. Contrary to all expectations, the website was crashed by your attention this afternoon. We are working furiously with our host server to quadruple band width and post your results. If we do not succeed within the next few hours, we will attempt to post applicant numbers of passing examinees before midnight. Promised email notification of posted result letters will surely follow tomorrow. We are so sorry for this totally frustrating delay.
"Contrary to all expectations, you all seem interested in finding out whether you passed the most important exam you will take in your entire professional career..."
Crap, I forgot my applicant number.
They could have just posted a damn list like last year. Fn idiots!
how are we supposed to know to check the website if they post applicant numbers if we aren't supposed to check the website?
Yeah good point. Maybe they are supposed to email us the list of applicant numbers? IBABY is making this way more complicated than it needs to be. Come on, half the damn test was a scantron!
Yeah, it's completely contrary to all expectations that when you tell a group of neurotic, risk-averse law school graduates that their bar results will be posted on a website, those law school graduates might, en masse, decide to log on to that website repetitively, thus exceeding your bandwidth limitations.
While we're waiting, what exactly was the IL bar exam policy on cell phones and iPods? I thought they were totally prohibited in exam buildings, but during lunch I'd see test-takers walking around listening to iPods, and then making cell phone calls as they walked out after the exam.
I ask because I'm applying to be a hall monitor next year if the exam didn't go well.
Dude, I saw a guy with a Bic ballpoint.
My billables were waaaay down today. Checking the stupid ibaby website way to much to see if I have to pack my things before I get fired. I guess that's why it crashed.
The senior citizen test administrators in our room kept telling everyone before the test to bring their cell-phones to the front of the room. I was confused because I thought you weren't supposed to have them in the room, period.
All GULC grads passed (obviously). Next time, a more challenging exam would be nice.
Thanks in part to the stupid link in this thread, everyone waiting for Illinois results gets to wait. Thanks ATL--way to go...
Anyone who has been manging a website for more than five minutes would know the following:
a) don't post that results will be released until they're actually READY to be released;
b) have enough bandwith to handle your traffic;
c) telling people to wait for emails rather than check the site is a futile request; and
d) if the process you used last year worked well, why not keep that process.
Good job on the fuck-up iBaby, way to show that level of competence that we've come to expect from a governmental or pseudo-governmental agency (whatever the fuck you are).

Stop "furiously working" on anything.. just post the fucking list in plain text and get it over with.
Put this mother fucking list, on this mother fucking site. (wow was that ever a strained reference to Snakes on a plane)
While we pass the time...
Anyone else started in Chicago biglaw yet? First impressions?
70, congrats on having billables. After 2+ weeks, I'm still searching for work.
Thanks, I guess. From what I hear, I'm in the only firm whose yearly requirements started in September. Shoot me.
I will say this: those now entering BigLaw got in at the right time (assuming you don't get laid off soon). Starting salaries took huge leaps just before the economy tanked, and firms are significantly cutting back the size of summer classes now. You got in just after the salary hikes and just before the "trimming."
Thanks, I guess. From what I hear, I'm in the only firm whose yearly requirements started in September.
Me too 78. Some people in my class seem to have lots of work but I hardly have any. Everyone keeps saying to just be quiet and enjoy it while it lasts.
"The Illinois Board of Admissions to the Bar consists of seven members of the bar appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to oversee the administration of all aspects of bar admissions in the state, including the character and fitness process, the semiannual administration of the bar examination, and the review and approval of applications for admission on motion.
Members of the Board
Neil K. Quinn, President, Chicago
Donald H. Funk, Secretary-Treasurer, Springfield
David W. Andich, Rock Island
Theodore L. Kuzniar, St. Charles
Lawrence N. Hill, Chicago
James R. Carroll, Chicago
John P. Long, O'Fallon"
-- And as we can all see, they are completely, fucking, incompetent. Glad to know they are in charge.
Neil, Don, Dave, Teddy, Larry, Jim, John: it's not too late to write the passing numbers on a piece of paper and tape it to the front office door. It's all we really need. Thanks!
If your firm says they don't look at billables during your stub year, do the partners really not look at your billables this year? In other words, is there basically no chance that I'm going to get yelled at for having low billables (say 20-30 hours/week), assuming that I'm seeking out work and taking all work that comes to me?
The IL Board are completely retarded. They didn't anticipate their servers being hit so hard???! These are the same dumbasses who only opened 800 spaces for laptop registration.
Apparently, they don't understand these new fangled 'puters and interwebs.
Start studying now for your next bar exem. Face it, if you'd take a second one now, while everything is still fresh, you're never going to work up the effort again. Otherwise, you have to (i) live in CHI for the rest of your cold, bitter life, or (ii) switch careers in order to move.
Chicago Biglaw - Averaging about 10 billable hours per week, with a low of 4 and high of 14. Department is pretty slow, and the assignments that would normally be given to 1st years are being kept by 2nd's, either to make their hours or so they feel safer about their jobs.
87, you do realize that states (aside from California) have a reciprocity policy right? If you work in IL for 5 or more years you can be admitted to the New York Bar without taking an exam.

I'm actually hitting between 30-50 hours per week. It's all fucking abstracts though. But still good billables.
I have been waiting for the results and watched the new teen show "Privileged" - FULL OF SLUTS. What up
IBABY, PLEASE JUST POST A LIST OF THE NUMBERS THAT PASSED ON YOUR FRONT PAGE. For the love of god.
Seriously. Wtf? I do not get why they simply can not make a .pdf file of that. SO DUMB.
From IBABY.org GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY!!
EXAM RESULTS
Exam results will begin posting in batches now. The entire process will take approximately 2 hours. To avoid crashing the website, please watch your email box instead of hanging and refreshing on the site. Individual result letters will be posted only after individual email messages are sent. Accordingly, please wait until you receive your email notice from the Board before attempting to log onto your Ibaby account to view your exam results.
Thank you for your patience and GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

Dealing with IBABY is like dealing with my brother's kids. Cute for a second, but damn, enough already. Who's running this group, Trig Palin?
I'm babysitting my dtr's email account while she's at dinner. Nothing yet.
This delay is sheer cruelty. Should be actionable - the recovery could help with the loans.
Best of luck to all of you, and thanks for the giggles.
Maintain your sense of humor - you'll probably need it.

ibaby?????????
I hope the Government comes up with a plan to bail me out of my failed bar exam. Boo yah!
the site is totally still down...wtf
I'm not sure I understand these new IBABY instructions. So the emails are sent in "chunks." Does this mean we can check IBABY for our scores immediately after receiving our emails, or is it the case that no one can get their scores until everyone gets their emails?
If anyone has received an email, please update us.
Got an email, still can't login.
I got my email but can't log into the site. I just keep getting the same message about ibaby being temporarily unavailable while results are posted. wtf?
find the link that your processor sent you in an email a long time back and you can click on it and get right in :D

106/7, can you post that link, and then we can log in under our own names?
Yay I passed! Thank god! Good luck everyone. Clear out your cache if you're getting error messages.
110, what is the first letter of your last name?
I can log in, no results yet...
it doesnt give you a log in screen - it just goes to your own messages
E
end of alphabet=still no email
ibaby is no baby of mine.
Congratulations.
111, my last name starts with D.
I'm a C, and no email for me yet.
110: what time did you get the email at?
It's prolly still by number, not name.
110 is a liar, methinks.
what are the first 3 numbers of you ID?
Ha, maybe they're doing it like law school admissions: I'm on some sort of email waiting list, and if enough people before me decline to pass the bar, I'm totally in.
Fingers crossed that a ton of people decide to go to IN instead...
anyone else get emails yet?
110 here. Got the email at 9:30. The email says "Account update from IBABY regarding your recent application..." Then you go to your account and the letter is there, and when you click on it (hopefully) it says "We are pleased to advise you that you passed the July 2008 bar exam."
Good luck again everyone!
has anyone NOT passed yet?
W here, ID starting with 69--no letter.
I'm R and mine starts with 54-- no email
I'm a B--no idea what my ID number is--no letter.
110 again. I applied to the bar really early (meaning I submitted my application early in January). That could have something to do with it, though I don't know.
C starting 102... no email.
Strangely, I was just able to enter my IBABY account for the first time today, but I haven't yet received an email and I have no messages in my account...
110, can you cut and paste the body of your letter?
f this bullshit.
I got an email from iBaby 2 weeks ago saying that 2 of my employers never got back to them (both profs I did paid research for in law school). I gave iBaby a fax number where they could reach the profs at. At 5:00 today I got an email from my account handler saying they still haven't heard back from the profs and that my character and fitness is still being held up because of this. I took this as a good sign, because if I failed the exam, they probably wouldn't be bothering with this right? :)
Then at 9:30 tonight I got another email saying that "important info and/or documentation" has been sent to me, and that I should log into iBaby.
When I log in there is a link to a .PDF letter under "Admission Docs" on the right hand side of my iBaby homepage. The letter says they need to hear from my profts about my employment before they can process my character and fitness app.
Nothing under "Admission Messages" or "System Messages"
My last name starts with S.
sooo.... it seems like several people reported getting the email in the first batch, but no new emails since then.
Not sure they have any logical system in place (surprise, surprise). I'm a number starting with 103, last name C and no e-mail so far.
136...i got the same thing, about character references. i hadn't gotten any advisement before, that they needed to hear back from someone.
i haven't heard anything about test results.
my last name starts with n.
Trying. to. resist. checking. ibaby. over. and. over.
I still haven't heard anything on my application since I applied in mid-January--I'm hoping by now that this means I have no character and fitness hang-ups. I have a fairly clean past, but I definitely thought I'd have an inquiry or two, so part of me worries that I've missed a message or something.
I got a letter on the 8th saying that I had been recommended to the board for admission pending exam results
141, you should have gotten an email saying that you are being recommended for approval for character and fitness...all is not lost yet
136 here. How prestigious would it be if I passed the bar exam but failed character and fitness because 2 profs I did about 15 hours of paid research for during 2L year refused to fill out a form from iBaby? I think very.
Anyone gotten an email after the initial "batch"?
