How difficult would it be to just send a mass email to those that passed and another to those that failed? Why even bother with the website? Or at least have enough bandwith on the website to handle the traffic. REDICULOUS.

What's up with the title of this post? "Bar Examine Results ..."? Maybe HLS should start offering a spelling and grammar course.

can you please suspend this notification until those of us who really care get our results. the delay is in part caused by the overload of people on ibaby.

Um, no. There will be no list. Individuals who took the Illinois bar will get an email and will be able to log in and view their individual results. But there will be no LIST of who passed and who didn't.

FAIL post.

Do some people already know whether they passed, then? I thought all emails would be sent as a group, but it sounds as though messages really are being sent individually. My last name is toward the end of the alphabet, so if messages are being sent A-Z, I may not find out whether I passed until November.

The IBABY website has apparently been nuked.

DELAYED RELEASE OF EXAMINATION RESULTS

July 2008 bar examinees PLEASE watch your individual emailboxes rather than the website for news from the Board. Contrary to all expectations, the website was crashed by your attention this afternoon. We are working furiously with our host server to quadruple band width and post your results. If we do not succeed within the next few hours, we will attempt to post applicant numbers of passing examinees before midnight. Promised email notification of posted result letters will surely follow tomorrow. We are so sorry for this totally frustrating delay.

avatar
66 Posted by guest | Permalink Tuesday, September 30, 2008 8:46 PM

Yeah good point. Maybe they are supposed to email us the list of applicant numbers? IBABY is making this way more complicated than it needs to be. Come on, half the damn test was a scantron!

avatar
67 Posted by guest | Permalink Tuesday, September 30, 2008 8:47 PM

Yeah, it's completely contrary to all expectations that when you tell a group of neurotic, risk-averse law school graduates that their bar results will be posted on a website, those law school graduates might, en masse, decide to log on to that website repetitively, thus exceeding your bandwidth limitations.

avatar

While we're waiting, what exactly was the IL bar exam policy on cell phones and iPods? I thought they were totally prohibited in exam buildings, but during lunch I'd see test-takers walking around listening to iPods, and then making cell phone calls as they walked out after the exam.

I ask because I'm applying to be a hall monitor next year if the exam didn't go well.

Anyone who has been manging a website for more than five minutes would know the following:

a) don't post that results will be released until they're actually READY to be released;

b) have enough bandwith to handle your traffic;

c) telling people to wait for emails rather than check the site is a futile request; and

d) if the process you used last year worked well, why not keep that process.

Good job on the fuck-up iBaby, way to show that level of competence that we've come to expect from a governmental or pseudo-governmental agency (whatever the fuck you are).

I will say this: those now entering BigLaw got in at the right time (assuming you don't get laid off soon). Starting salaries took huge leaps just before the economy tanked, and firms are significantly cutting back the size of summer classes now. You got in just after the salary hikes and just before the "trimming."

Ha, maybe they're doing it like law school admissions: I'm on some sort of email waiting list, and if enough people before me decline to pass the bar, I'm totally in.

Fingers crossed that a ton of people decide to go to IN instead...

110 here. Got the email at 9:30. The email says "Account update from IBABY regarding your recent application..." Then you go to your account and the letter is there, and when you click on it (hopefully) it says "We are pleased to advise you that you passed the July 2008 bar exam."

Good luck again everyone!

110 again. I applied to the bar really early (meaning I submitted my application early in January). That could have something to do with it, though I don't know.

Strangely, I was just able to enter my IBABY account for the first time today, but I haven't yet received an email and I have no messages in my account...

I got an email from iBaby 2 weeks ago saying that 2 of my employers never got back to them (both profs I did paid research for in law school). I gave iBaby a fax number where they could reach the profs at. At 5:00 today I got an email from my account handler saying they still haven't heard back from the profs and that my character and fitness is still being held up because of this. I took this as a good sign, because if I failed the exam, they probably wouldn't be bothering with this right? :)

Then at 9:30 tonight I got another email saying that "important info and/or documentation" has been sent to me, and that I should log into iBaby.

When I log in there is a link to a .PDF letter under "Admission Docs" on the right hand side of my iBaby homepage. The letter says they need to hear from my profts about my employment before they can process my character and fitness app.

Nothing under "Admission Messages" or "System Messages"

My last name starts with S.

Not sure they have any logical system in place (surprise, surprise). I'm a number starting with 103, last name C and no e-mail so far.

i haven't heard anything about test results.

my last name starts with n.

I still haven't heard anything on my application since I applied in mid-January--I'm hoping by now that this means I have no character and fitness hang-ups. I have a fairly clean past, but I definitely thought I'd have an inquiry or two, so part of me worries that I've missed a message or something.

I got a letter on the 8th saying that I had been recommended to the board for admission pending exam results

141, you should have gotten an email saying that you are being recommended for approval for character and fitness...all is not lost yet

136 here. How prestigious would it be if I passed the bar exam but failed character and fitness because 2 profs I did about 15 hours of paid research for during 2L year refused to fill out a form from iBaby? I think very.
