An Email From the Former Solicitor General?

Paul Clement Paul D Clement US Solicitor General.jpg

Could it be? A message for ATL from Paul Clement, the 43rd Solicitor General of the United States?

(It’s not completely out of the question. We have written about Clement a fair amount, and we have also met him in person.)

The lowercase type for his name seemed a little odd. But some very prominent attorneys, like John Quinn of Quinn Emanuel, use lowercase type for email messages. Based on the subject line, “Order,” we guessed that perhaps the former SG wanted to share a funny court order with us.

Read the message from Paul Clement, after the jump.

Of course we opened the email message from “Paul Clement” regarding an “Order”:

Let’s give credit where credit is due: those spammers get better and better each day.

Shouldn't the lead story this morning be the massive carnage on wall street and the fact that it's going to take 20% or so of your readership down with it? That may be important...

Guys at my highschool used to blog about SPAM emails when there were more important things going on all the time. It was no big deal.

If you are looking for a blog covering important stuff (i.e. the financial market), you should go to Dealbreaker. If you are looking for substantive posts second only to PerezHilton.com, ATL is your kinda blog (as of recent). I can't wait for the post where Elie dishes about what color socks Justice Scalia wears when he is about to write a dissenting opinion...I'm thinking tangerine.

Massive carnage on Wall St? I don't buy all the hype. It's not a "once in a century" financial crisis. Sure the stock markets took a big hit. It's the biggest drop since...2001. Remember how everyone lost their jobs and lava poured out of sewer grates and leviathans mutated into mammals and came on the land and ate everyone in 2001?

This is actually quite amusing. Blogger actually creates something for a change, and the haters are out in force. Whatever.

People aren't freaking out b/c the markets dropped 4%+. The panic is b/c of the reason for the drop. The dot-com bust was expected. At the beg. of '08, few could have predicted we'd see LEH, BSC, MER and AIG effectively go down. That's bigger than some random dot-com w/an insane valuation tanking. This is worse than '01.

geez people, has the downturn in the economy killed everyone's sense of humor too? I, for one, thought this post was fun, and a nice change from the constant tales of bloodbath at this firm or that bank.

if all you want to read is that, i suggest the wsj instead of atl...
