3L: Ready For Some Action
We’ve discussed the terrible market for 3Ls, but one D.C.-area law student is taking matters into her own hands. From the source of all that is wonderful, the Craigslist personals:
Are you a lonely lawyer? - 24Maybe we can do something about that. I’m an ambitious 3L at a good school, and I’d really like to land a job at a terrific firm. Unfortunately, my grades and the job market aren’t the best. Ideally, I would like to meet a cute hiring partner for “networking.” I’m sexy, petite, and very fun to be with. If you’re interested, please tell me a bit about yourself. I’d be happy to exchange pics.
Why are you looking to score a lawyer-man on craigslist? ATL would be happy to post your pictures. And we know that hiring partners and recruiting coordinators read the site regularly.
Still, we admire your willingness to do “what it takes” to secure a job in this difficult market. Sexy, petite, networking is actually great training for your eventual life as a Biglaw associate.
Out of work 3Ls take note: there is always more than one way to get a job.

Hell yeah. Someone email her and post the pics.
Not the best course of action. In fact, it will be a total disaster. Don't say I didn't warn you!
good work Elie
D.C. to STD
Now there's a post.
Dear ambitious 3L:
Folks at my firm call me Client 9. Why don't you meet me in my office which is room 871 of the Mayflower Hotel.
Why worry about a job at all? If you can land a wealthy attorney, just go that route. That way, you can stay cute, petite, fun and still get your loans paid off. If you really want to work, then you can go and do some non-profit or government work for "fun money."
Agree with 9. Get a job bar tending/waiting tables at a place where the suits blow off steam after work.
9 - They call those people "community activists" and it's a great way to gain experience for the Presidency.
This is definitely a troll's work. A bunch of idiotic partners who respond to that will be outed.
9 - They call those people "community activists" and it's a great way to gain experience for the Presidency.

Uhh . . . no sweetie. As MooseBurger Barbie has learned the hard way, just inserting "community activist" into a random insult is rarely funny or convincing to people who don't screech at cameramen to "Sit Down, Boy!" and breath through their mouths. Good luck with that, though!
Congrats Elie, this is what we've been waiting for. Now all you have to do is start editing your posts, cut the politics way down and make posts about NY to 190 rumors.
This is garbage of a story. Honestly.
Elie, stick to < 150 words and you'll go far.
Sorry 13, the "community activist" insult is always funny to those of us who know Obama doesn't know his ass from a hole in the wall. It never gets old.
17- well pretty soon McCain, while perhaps knowing that his ass is not a hole in the ground, won't be able to control the movements therefrom.
Continence- change we can believe in.
17, Riiiiight. Ed. HLR, Con Law Prof., State Senator. Clearly a moran. Moran.
19 - moron.
um, 19...it's "moron".
20, 21: Ever hear of a meme?

This picture looks very familiar. It was linked to some other scandel this past year...oh yeah...the Spitzer affair. Maybe we should post the pics of the real call girl from Los Angeles...
I didn't say he was a moron. He is, however, totally delusional.
That one is a MORAN!
This was really posted by Governor Palin, wasn't it?
20/21 - pwned
that craigslist ad has to be a joke. i go to a "good school" and we have firm receptions damn near every day. just show up in a low cut blouse, fetch some old partner a few drinks, and get your whore on. she's either lying, unattractive, horribly awkward, or not even trying.
***
normally i'd ignore 11 & 17's trolling, but Palin disrespected a lot of hardworking people with that crack about community organizing. community organizing isn't necessarily a partisan enterprise, and plenty of conservatives engage in it also. if you want to get things done without leaving it to an expensive & ineffective government bureaucracy, you organize. duh.
So how many third-year law students at good schools in DC could there possibly be willing to offer sex for profit?

Methinks this is the same person. Otherwise, law school in DC just does something strange to the ladies.

Why does everyone constantly instruct Elie how to do his job? I hate that all the comments are about Elie now. I wish Elie had just posted under Lat's name and no one would have known the difference.
No matter who posts now, the xoxo crowd blames anything they don't like about said post on Elie. It's just who they are.

It would be completely possible that this is the same girl posting the CL ad as the girl posting on that blog. She was a 1L in 2006 (I draw this from her April post about Equal Protection; that would be about the time during 1L year she would learn that stuff).
Except her last post was that she was going to stop seeing clients because she found a regular sugar daddy; I'm guessing that didn't work out well for her.
32, I totally disagree. Lat and Elie have totally different writing styles. Lat's posts are playful, witty, warm, and polished. Elie seems more cynical than Lat's to the point of almost seeming a little bitter, and his posts are riddled with typos. Elie's also a big fan of the single sentence paragraph. That said, I think Elie will get into his groove eventually.
So this just means the job market for GULC'ers isn't all bad. Perhaps they should quit whining at Harris Beach and explore non-OCI ways to get a foot in the door. Or a **** in the ****.
When did Elie revert to the editorial "we"? This is two posts in a row. Definitely a sign of progress.
28/31 = 19
Probably true, 29, but conservatives communitity organizers aren't deluded enough to believe that they are therefore wualified for the US Senate, much less the presidency.
Probably true, 29, but conservative community organizers aren't deluded enough to believe that they are therefore qualified to run for the US Senate, much less the presidency.
Probably true, 39, but community organizing is probably more relevant experience than being a POW.
Community organizing = findings ways to perpetrate voter fraud.
Community organizing =/= community service or volunteerism.
Probably true, 41, but 26 years in Congress is probably more relevant experience than being a community organizer. For that matter, being a mayor, a governor, and a vice president is more relevant as well.
I'm a 3L with pecs like two perfectly aligned tectonic plates and a happy trail so tempting even Larry Craig would look twice. I went to all my callbacks shirtless and managed to pay off all my loans before I received my first job offer just from servicing horny paralegals. This chick is behind the curve in more ways than one.
Too bad he spent the last several years supporting tax cuts without cutting expenditure, 43. Adding another digit to the national debt sounds more like a disqualification. Bring back the old McCain.
No, 38. 19 = 22. 19 /= 28/31. 19 knows enough not to hit the post button twice. (No offense 28/31). Moran.
All of you...John McCain is a moran.
William Ayers
44- You forgot to mention that your actually a woman.

Servicing paralegals? Ugh. I prefer partners, particularly the old men new to viagra and the closeted lesbians. The latter are so furtively passionate in their lovemaking, and more likely to come through with a job.
42, you should branch out beyond the michelle malkin blog if you're really interested in election fraud. look into ward connerly, sproul & associates, san bernadino ... that's just off the top of my head. acorn's got nothing on the gop.
31 - it's "owned."
does this technique actually work in getting a job?
*hustles over to craigslist*
-nervous T-10 1L
But can you get a job at WILDMAN BERKSHIRE like this?
-copycat who doesn't really know name of firm but misses these comments
WILDMAN HARROLD
28/31 - what does pwned mean?
Sorry 50, but "community organizer" is not a synonym for public service, or even community activism. "Community organizing" is not clearly defined, but it certainly has a connotation that is, almost always, leftist and outside of the mainstream. For many, it also connotes "not having a job."
It is notable that the Obama literature does not expound very much on his community organizing. To the extent that his books do discuss it, he actually admits that it was a pretty ineffective way to get things done. So we have two facts: (1) no one can quite define what it is that Obama did as a community organizer; and (2) his work does not appear to have produced any good or benefit.
Does this mean Obama is not qualified? Does it mean he's a radical? No, and no. But the community organizing doesn't exactly help his resume. If it did, I am sure his campaign would have told us a whole lot about the wonderful things he did. But they haven't.
It's a clear weakness. Organizing it's not sounds kind of silly.
- Not 42
WILDMAN WILDMAN WILDMAN WILDMAN
Should say... "arguing it's not makes you sound kind of silly."
a clear, cogent, and concise post, but please tell me elie - what's the relevance to WILDMAN HARROLD'S space law practice?
59 FTW.
-53, after having to pretend i wasn't tearing up when my secretary came in to ask a question right after reading 59.
56, what does that have to do with voter fraud by conservatives?
50
Speaking of voter fraud

51, you don't know jack, it is in fact "pwned".
56, that was a very Palin-style answer--way to steer the conversation back to your talking points. is it silly to argue that spending the last few years of one's extensive career supporting Bush's failed policies is more of a blight on one's resume than a couple of years of ineffective community organizing?
63, I think 51 just troll pwned you.
63, I think 51 just troll pwned you.
For what it's worth, the Obama campaign does play up his organizing experience at times. In fact, the person who hired him as an organizer spoke at the Democratic Convention.
I'll hire her.

Hot picture, but not as hot as:

61 and 64 -- note that I offered no defense of McCain, Republicans, etc. Note also that you've said nothing to refute my points. I partly understand your confusion. My comment was probably better addressed to 29, rather than 50.
And 64 -- what "talking points"? But sure, I'll take the bait. It's pretty easy to knock McCain for siding with Bush's policies in many instances. Anyone who takes a stand on something opens themselves to criticism. So be it.
Obama has yet to take a leadership role on anything as an elected official. He has authored no bills of note; has championed no particular causes or initiatives of note; has voted entirely along party lines, speaking only after his party leaders have set the party's agenda. In fact, in every stage of his impressive career, Obama's performance is noticeably lacking in actual accomplishments. It is essentially a blank slate. The best we can say is, basically, he's done no harm.
That's nice, I guess. And it's not a definitive reason not to vote for him. I personally believe he still shows a lot of promise. But again, these weaknesses linger, and any attempts to explore them are met with derision. This is why the race is still as close as it is.

Good thing that Palin and McCain aren't "community organizers."
I'm scandalized that the lawschoolwhore blog is so damned boring.
DC to 190!!! Why have people let all the doom and gloom take their focus off the important things like pay raises?
"cute hiring partner"? an oxymoron at biglaw but then again the definition of "cute" is tricky
