Morning Docket 10.23.08
* Lehman’s lawyer fees “could reach a record $1.4 billion.”[Bloomberg]
* The RNC spent more than a first-year associate’s salary on clothes for Sarah Palin. So, when you are reading mind-numbing legal documents at midnight tonight and your friends are out partying, just dream of all the snappy red jackets you can buy. [Los Angeles Times]
* Sarah Palin’s $150,000 wardrobe was bad, but it could be worse. A Philadelphia state senator spent roughly 3.5 million dollars of tax payers money to pay personal assistants who “spied on his ex-lovers, chauffeured his children, oversaw mansion renovations, and permormed a myriad of other chores.” [Associated Press]
* The IRS withdrew a $319 million tax assessment on FedEx. [Associated Press]
* Milberg has hired NYU professor Arthur Miller to run its appellate practice. [Bloomberg]
* Recent developments in the U.S. District Court Judge Edward “Naughty” Nottingham may stop him from practicing law in Colorado. [The Rocky Mountain News]
* A former administrative law judge is still trying to sue his dry cleaner for 54 million because they lost his pants. [ABC]

These pretzels are making me firsty!
Liza, Liza, skies are gray
But if you smile on me, all the clouds will roll away.
Liza, Liza, don't delay
Fumo has more intelligence in his left nut than that cancer Palin. He just got greedy.
2 of the last 3 posts have the same picture of Palin. What gives?
No political affiliation listed for the Pennsylvania State Senator who misused $3.5M in public funds? Not hard to guess what was omitted.

no creativity and about 2 days late on this news.... ATL has come to suck...
"The IRS withdrew a $319 million tax assessment of FedEx. "
do you mean "on" FedEx?
Mystal, your penultimate paragraph is missing a word...I believe it might be "case" between "the" and "U.S.".
That first one is misleading. the $1.4 billion includes accountants and other professionals
Mystal, stop snorting breakfast burritos.
Suck it.
"Recent developments in the U.S. District Court Judge Edward "Naughty" Nottingham may stop him from practicing law in Colorado."
That line doesn't even make sense. I had to click through to figure out what on earth you were talking about. Please, EDIT your work before you post it.
For example, you could say:
"Recent developments with U.S. District Court Judge Edward "Naughty" Nottingham may stop him from practicing law in Colorado."
or you could say:
"Recent developments in the U.S. District Court Judge Edward "Naughty" Nottingham case may stop him from practicing law in Colorado."
However, the second sentence is inaccurate, as there is currently no case against Nottingham, just one being built.
There's a reason Dechert didn't talk to this blog. You are no longer a legal blog. You are an instrument of the communist movement in this country that is leading us to ruin.
Guys in my high school used to read legal blogs and then remove the link from their favorites when they turned into political garbage. It was no big deal.
Frat Stud signing off.
Vince Fumo is a cross between J. Edgar Hoover and Tony Soprano. A total crook. But in Philadelphia, Democrats get elected year after year without any accountability for their actions. Well, until they get prosecuted for them. See also Mayor Street's federal corruption investigation.
Elie, at least use a real picture of Palin. You use a real picture of yourself, if only to punish us.
I don't know of any first year associates who make $150,000.
a professor named arthur miller and no death of a salesman or crucible jokes? whats up with that?
WHO CARES ABOUT PALIN'S WARDROBE. How the f*** does that make the site three times in two posts. DECLINE, BASH BASH.
Philly corruption >>>>RNC corruption
"spied on his ex-lovers, chauffeured his children, oversaw mansion renovations, and permormed a myriad of other chores."
How did you introduce a typo into an AP article? Do you not have copy-paste?
Philadelphia is not a state
14, then you don't know many first year associates in Big Law., or at least the right ones. I knolw 1st years making $160k
Ms. Gray:
Your "permormance" in the Pallin piece is terrible. Try the copy and paste feature next time.
crickets...............................................................
The Palin Vogue cover....OMG how funny and ironic
This blog is GARBAGE
Why are people getting worked up over $150k being spent on Palin's wardrobes? Both parties are spending millions on their campaigns, including for annoying attack ads, so is it really all that surprising that they spent a fraction of that to make her look good for the 1000 public appearances she's making?
20: try a more literal approach. Look at the actual text. If you make $160,000, you make $160,000, not $150,000, no?

why are you bashing Mystal when someone else wrote this post?
At what point do we start asking what it is that they teach at Harvard? Or is it only AA Harvard grads who can't write properly?
Can you assholes stop writing about Palin's wardrobe? What the hell does that have to do with anything legal? This blog sucks.
I am OUTRAGED that there were too many commas in this post! OUTRAGED!
*leaves in a huff*
25, 20 here. I would superimpose the word "deuche-bag" for the word literal.
If you want to be real "literal," are we talking gross or net? Is $150,001 sufficient, or does it have to be $150k on the dot? These are also deuche-bag arguments, to show how you are a moron for even making the "literal" comment.
27, because the haters don't have time to actually read bylines in their futile attempts to be both "first" and "funny."
First!
*hustles to try and get in on that 1.4 billion lehman action, sends resume to firms explaining my interest in watching i-bankers suffer*
-nervous T-10 1L
elie you suck. i hate looking at that vogue cover. it's not original or interesting or ironic or funny. get a frigging life. i hope your "wife" is sitting on your face right now.
That vogue cover is fake, please, who the hell is blogging here on this site? First graders?
Also, not a penny of taxpayer $ was spent on Palin's wardrobe, it was campaign money. Let's scrutinize McCain's campaign money, but let's not look at the BILLION in actual tax payer money spent on earmarks by Obama in less than 3 years.
While we're looking at campaign money, how come Obama has $543 million out of $600+ million that donors cannot be accounted for because it was all given in <200 increments but a great deal of it was paid for with untraceable disposable credit cards? Can George Soros buy an election? Maybe. We'll see, won't we?

Please stop posting that hideous fucking photoshopped Vogue. It is nightmare fuel.
Tired of the anti-Palin SHIT here. Fuck you ATL, goodbye and good riddance.
Why the need to headline both yesterday's Non Sequiturs and today's Morning Docket with the same news story (cought-palin-cough) that's ON THE FRONT PAGE OF EVERY MAJOR NEWS OUTLET IN AMERICA! We get it - Palin's campaign spent a lot of money on clothes.
How about this blog perform a service that makes me want to read it, like, I don't know, collecting interesting underreported stories that vaguely pertain to legal events and make me want to spend 10 minutes a day on this site. Just some food for thought.
