* Another book about law school, this time from an NYU grad. Fat Black Pussycat > Off the Wagon. [Law School Story]
* So, who is going to be the next USAG? [Law and More]
* Absentee ballots allowing people to vote for "Barack Osama" were mailed to about 300 residents of Rensselaer County, NY. That would be the longtime district of former New York State Senate Republican leader Joe Bruno. "Whoops." [Albany Times Union]
* Will tighter ABA accreditation standards harm minority students? Only if you believe that minorities are disproportionately benefited by the low-end law schools getting squeezed by the ABA. I'm not sure if that stands up to empirical scrutiny. [The Shark]
* Online dating guide for lawyers. [Sweet Hot Justice]
* Apparently, informing associates and staff about their rights and options has been deemed "non-essential" by Heller management. [Heller Highwater]

PRETZELS!
ARE THERE ANY BIGLAW ASSOCS GETTING A 3-DAY WEEKEND?
LITIGATION IS BUSY!
great news everyone, i just "networked" with some of my "connections" and a partner at a v50 firm told me to email my resume to him on december 1 to set up an interview! i'd like to thank all the atl commenters for their assistance and kind words, i hope this is the first of many good things that go my way.

Elie, I have given you many chances, and have never commented on your typos.
But it is "Pussycat" NOT "Pusseycat"!! PROOFREAD!!!
Oh, and for what it's worth, I lived just off Washington Square Park. FBP is a great bar, OTW is a fratty dive. If you're looking for the latter, Down the Hatch on W.4th is much better, especially for the wing/beer special on Sundays.
Lazy a$$. The stock markets and law firms are all open on Monday. Who the hell gets Columbus Day off?
The link on who is going to be the next "USAG" took me to an uninteresting blog post on state AGs potentially running for president.
Both FBP and OTW < Half Pint, Blind Tiger, Dove Bar, etc.
7: Old Bind Tiger on Hudson, yes. New Blind Tiger on Bleeker? Not so much.
The Grisly Pear (formerly the Village Ma) is the place to be. Trivia on Tuesdays and $4 specials make drinking away partner assholishness a treat.
8, unfortunately I never had the chance to get to the old blind tiger, but the new one is a damn good bar, one of the best in the city. Something makes me think you're writing it off as "not so much" because, well, that's the cool thing to do re: old vs new.
The "law school story" blog is absolute trash. Reading it makes me glad the author is apparently struggling financially.
Nervous 1L - I look forward to hearing about your adventures in obtaining a high paying 1L sa.
Off the Wagon is an ultra dive bar! I can't imagine anyone enjoying it. A better bar near NYU is the Village Pourhouse is a slightly more "upscale" with a much better crowd. They actually have pretty good food there (sliders and great wings). I just saw in the local listings of section on Outlines.com that they even deliver!
That law school story blog is awful. Totally disconnected writing, jumps around to different times, completely uninteresting and downright bizarre and incomprehensible in places.
OTW, FBPC and the entire village were cool for the first month of 1L year. Then you realize it's all only undergrads and bridge and tunnelers who like those places. Who goes there when you live in freaking Manhattan and there is the meatpacking district and places like 230 Fifth?
Wow so surprised by the hate, I thought the law school blog was awesome. The style is a deliberate choice people, she's a writer. Keep it up girl.
