‘Impossible Pursuits’ at Kramer Levin

Kramer Levin Natalie Portman Dean Morgan.jpgKramer Levin is going to be a film star. The New York office received notice yesterday that a movie shooting will start there next week.

Subject: Movie Shoot at KL

The firm has consented to permit several scenes from “Love and Other Impossible Pursuits” to be filmed in our space. The movie features Natalie Portman, Lisa Kudrow and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Filming is scheduled to begin next week and will take place in 29C - 29L - the north corridor of 30 and office 3027. I know this will present some inconvenience, but we thought that it would add a bit of excitement and fun in an otherwise challenging time. I ask your patience and no, they don’t require any extras, stunt people, walk-on’s or real lawyers!! Filming will take place primarily on Wednesday and Thursday of next week but there will be some activity as early as tomorrow. They chose our space because it conveyed the image of a big, powerful, successful NYC law firm (in spite of our recent plumbing issues). The film will be released next year and the firm will be mentioned in the credits.

In the novel-based film, Natalie Portman will play an aspiring lawyer who “thought she knew what she wanted when she went after the sexy, married senior partner,” Jeffrey Dean Morgan (aka Denny Duquette from Grey’s Anatomy). No plumbing issues for the firm partner: Portman’s character gets pregnant.

Kramer's office space sucks. Would have chosen Cravath or Skadden over that shithole.

Nice, Kash.

And nice grocer's apostrophe, Nick.

Is there office really that nice? Never been but I cannot imagine it's looks better than WLRK, Cleary, STB, or DPW.

Weird casting. NP is beautiful, but unbelievable in anything since her debut in The Professional. In fact, she has not changed much since then. Well, she did quirky okay in Garden State. Whatever, I'd see anything with JDM...after all, I did see PS I love you.

Kash - this belongs in People Magazine, not ATL.

Shut up, 11. Kash is the only one who reliably posts cogent and interesting material. Compare her almost perfect record against Elie's almost perfectly horrible record and you'll see that a People Magazine type of post is far better than yet another lard covered donut dump from fatboy.

3 agree with Kramer not having the NYC power firm decor but Skadden??? They have tiny offices and dorm furniture.

Clearly they should use:
Cleary for offices,
STB for the lobby and conference rooms,
Cravath for the shot of the building (who wouldn't appreciate a Starwars reference), and
WLRK men and DPW women for extras

Kash to EIC. The plumbing line is classic.

This post just highlights the fact that you all dropped the ball on posting about Kramer Levin's plumbing issues.

Skadden's offices look like they were taken directly from the pages of a K Mart newspaper insert.

When I interviewed at Hughes Hubbard several years ago, I thought they had classy office space. But I guess they're too busy doing bailout work to let a movie film there.

WLRK's office is fairly unimpressive. It's spread over a number of floors, and, individually, none of them are that nice. Worse, they don't seem to have a commons area like Kramer Levin for featuring in the movie.

I would have picked STB's office building on Lexington. They have some very nice floors, including a reception area that overlooks the city. The entrance is also very photogenic, with a huge STB logo in gold.

12 - I have some thoughts. What is your spreading strategy? Do you re-visit your crop-dusting spots on a daily basis, or do you give them some time to settle in between the dustings? Also, do you prefer the moving crop dust, or the stop and go?

Mr. Tortorella needs to learn the difference between plural ("walk ons") and possessive ("walk on's"), especially when used in firm-wide emails.

Rumor has it a production company is replicating VLG’s Silicon Valley offices to film a real life drama about a Gunderson Detmer lawyer who "strayed," got herself caught up in all sorts of criminal activity-- money laundering, narcotics trafficking, fraud, extortion, bribing judicial officials-- fun stuff like that. The sex scenes will be filmed in the "executive conference facilities of the Ritz." No word whether her criminal defense attorney, Miles Ehrlich, a former ASUA who "poached" the attorney as a client from the DOJ then resigned to form his own law practice, will make a cameo appearance. Should be good!
