I am informed through a friend that if July 2008 NY examinees attempt to login to the https://www.nybarapply.org/ site with their old credentials, those currently flagged in the system as "not passing" will see the "(RE-APPLICATION)" option selected to allow them the opportunity to apply for the February 2009 exam. Those flagged as "passing" will see both options grayed out and be unable to re-apply.

Is Waco Christian University of Texas Law a good school particularly if you want to practice law in Waco?

33 - I practice in TX and have never even heard of that school.

34 - That's because it doesn't exist. Baylor is the only law school in Waco.

I am conscientiously objecting to bar exam threads in light of the fact that North Carolina's results--released August 29th--have been roundly ignored on ATL. What gives? I would have thought ATL would have been all over one of the first states--if not the first state--to release results. North Carolina has more electoral votes than Colorado, Massachusetts and Virginia, and it's a much nicer place to live than New Jersey, each of which received shout-outs. For shame!

Vinson & Elkins
DLA Piper
Haynes & Boone
Gardere Wynne Sewell
K&L Gates
Akin Gump
Andrews Kurth
Baker Botts
Fulbright
Hunton and Williams
Jackson Walker
Jones Day
Thompson and Knight
Weil
Baker & McKenzie
Greenberg Traurig

All pay 160k out of the gates with generous bonuses (except for Jones Day of course). That's enough to buy a 3500 sq ft house with land here in Dallas as opposed to a 700 sq ft apartment in New York. Sorry, but I'll go with a place where my money actually takes me to an elevated lifestyle. Oh, and we don't have to bill 2500 hours to keep from being fired.

Guess I'll head back to my TTT job that I got from my TTT school, even though I make more than you. One more for good measure: TTT!

avatar
68 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, November 7, 2008 9:24 AM

Having lived in Dallas, i can tell you that housing is not inexpensive. If you want good schools and a decent commute to downtown, you have to live in the park cities where housing is as expensive as any decent suburb in the northeast. You can get a 3500 sq foot house in a good school district for $300K, but you have to move out to plano for that, which is at least an hour commute. Also, while texas has no state income tax, the property taxes are obscene, and almost make up for the state income taxes in the northeast and Calif. Overall, Texas cost of living is overrated.

avatar
69 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, November 7, 2008 9:42 AM

67 - you must not have read my original comment: Even if TTTexas firms paid twice the NY amount, I still wouldn't want to live there. Why do you need that 3500 sq ft house? Is it so you can fit in a staircase big enough for your fat ass to make it up the stairs? I think so.

@67...160k won't get you shit in Dallas lest you want to live in the hood or some disgusting suburb. A fucking 1300sf townhouse in Uptown will run you 400k....Perhaps you got lost in Arlington.

77 Posted by guest | Permalink Friday, November 7, 2008 11:08 AM

46 - It's not about what you need, it's about what you can afford. We don't need half the shit we buy. Having excess is no reason for jealousy.

70 - Granted, living in Uptown will cost you a hell of a lot of money. If you're afraid of the suburbs, that's your personal preference. I find Sunnyvale is a great "suburb" that is neither disgusting nor the hood. 18 minute commute is not all that bad.

73 - It's "y'all," not "ya'll." Think of the words being joined. "You" and "all." There is no "a" in "you." [Insert lame TTTexas attorneys are too stttupid to know the difference joke here.]

Come on guys. For being "intellectuals," you really are lame. Anyone who says "TTT" is really missing the point here. We all went to law school to make money, and your money will go much further in TTTexas than it will in the Northeast.

Good day.
