Legal Eagle Wedding Watch 1.11: Dream Dean

Twenty-seven-year-old hottie marries much older non-hottie: Normally a match like this would be explained by the groom’s (1) job at Goldman, (2) trust fund, or (3) peerage. But no, this groom is (drumroll) the associate dean for finance and administration at Yeshiva’s Cardozo School of Law. This is how bad the economy is, folks: Attractive women are marrying associate deans of non-T14 law schools.

Here are this week’s finalists:

1. Adrienne Lockie and Adav Noti

2. Inna Dexter and Benjamin Nussdorf

3. Arlene Hong and Darren Duffy

1. Adrienne Lockie and Adav Noti

Sponsored

(Buy them a cake pan.)

The Case:

– Two JDs for this wholesome-looking pair. The bride graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill (where “every single time the Tar Heels step on the floor for a league game . . .” it’s, you know, worth watching) and was magna at GULC. She’s a practitioner in residence at American’s law school, where she teaches in the Women and the Law clinic.

– Adav was magna at Penn and has a JD from NYU. A Paul Weiss alumn, he’s currently a staff lawyer at the Federal Election Commission.

The Case Against:

Sponsored

– At 29, Adav is already on marriage number two.

2. Inna Dexter and Benjamin Nussdorf

(Buy them a shower curtain.)

The Case:

– They met as undergrads at Penn (agh, Penn — it burns, it burns!) and went on to get law degrees, she at Georgetown and he at American.

– She’s an associate at Clifford Chance; he’s a presidential management fellow at the Interior Department.

– Ben’s mom is a partner at Steptoe & Johnson.

The Case Against:

– Cheeky little photo (but don’t worry; it didn’t run in the NYT; it’s from their cheeky little website).

3. Arlene Hong and Darren Duffy

(Buy them a nut bowl.)

The Case:

– This fabulously 40 bride is senior VP and general counsel at J. Crew. She graduated from Columbia and has a JD from Cornell.

– The groom is the chief content officer at Lipper, where he sits in a big room with a bunch of other people, furiously calculating the Lipper Average, which is undoubtedly in the toilet like everything else. He went to St. Joseph’s and has an MBA from NYU.

The Case Against:

– We haven’t bought anything at J. Crew in ages; their catalogs seem to have been taken over by bridesmaids’ dresses and cheap-looking jewelry. But OMG, how cute are these sandals?

The Verdict:

– This one is admittedly a close call. Team Hong-Duffy only has one JD, but we like what the legal-eagle bride has accomplished at the tender age of 40, so we think this couple has a slight edge over the greener entries. Congratulations, newlyweds!
