How exactly is the SEC going to investigate whether Apple accurately reflected Steve Jobs health? Is it possible to quantify hope that one will survive cancer? Is it possible to quantify hope at all? Obama supporters seem to believe so, but really the SEC is just wasting everyone's time here.

"Cox resigned in the wake of scrutiny of the SEC"

WTF? He resigned in the wake of a new president being sworn in who had already nominated someone to replace him.

Great. A bunch of friggin' lawyers running things. Of all of the people that I've known, I'd have to say that law students/lawyers are among the most stupid. But at least they make up for it by thinking they are smart.

There was a rivalry between lawyers and bankers? Lawyers and doctors, sure, but comparing us to bankers is like comparing a BMW to a Geo. Most of the people I know in banking--good people that they are--got in either right after undergrad, or after 2 years of partying in an mba program. You can't really compare a sales-commission-based job to a learned profession.

So whats the deal with that, 15? Did she write/say that at some point?

SEC Chairman Cox did not resign “in the wake of scrutiny of the SEC for failing to investigate allegations in the Madoff scandal”, but rather because the incoming president---a Democrat—has nominated Mary Schapiro to head the SEC.

Such resignations occur every time there is a changing of the guard in the White House.

18 - The deal is that Eliza Gray is prejudiced against Chinese people. When she writes about them she always intentionally screws up her grammar in order to make herself sound less facile with the English language than a Harvard graduate would be. I personally find it very offensive.

"Oh, me Chinese, me go to Supreme Court, me put pee pee in your coke."

17: Many people become lawyers because they know they are not nearly smart enough to become doctors. Law school is the only graduate school where no particular prerequisites are needed, and one can succeed with a slightly above-average IQ.

If you want to compare doctors to another profession, try aerospace engineers.
