Maybe I'm not cut from the biglaw mold, but in this economy the last thing I want to hear is the misery of others. The pain of others does not make me feel better. Show me there is a flickering glimmer of a light at the end of this suck tunnel.

Regarding the blocked comments on the Tulane story...

Don't worry. Anyone who would mock Mexicans is just a "typical white person."

Of course Lat would post this late. Elie, I think not.

Well, technically he was damn lucky to get bail conditions at all.

And hey, considering that once upon a time he had plenty of wealthy friends, surely somebody out there is dumb enough, I mean, cares for him enough to put up the money. At least, that's what the judge said...

So if bail is really just about setting conditions that will reasonably assure the defendant will show up to court, where does a judge feel justified in pulling a number like $20 Million out of a hat?

Would $1 Million have done the trick? Who knows, maybe the guy's lawyer is lying (shocking), and $20 Million will be easy for him to scrounge up. Seriously, whose job is it to research how much money is enough? And is it really financial pressure that keeps a person in line, or moral pressure?

Why were the comments on the "Mexican party" blocked? (Just typing "Mexican party" makes me feel like an ignorant stereotyper.)

The tulane mafia got you Elie. They threatened you didn't they? Threatened to cut off your supply of fried shrimp and frozen daiquiris?

She just gave in. That's what we should expect from a harvard grad. Tulane grads know how to deal with adversity. With shoe-thievery and racism.

Instead of just blocking comments on the Mexican party, how about taking that stupid post down. I used to defend Elie against all the haters, but that was in poor taste. Give me a break -- there was nothing offensive about it and to put their pictures up for the asshole ATL world to see was bullshit since they did nothing wrong. I may have voted for Obama, but it's time for the left to stop being offended at every damn politically incorrect comment or reference to a culture other than your typical whitey.
