An Update on Sandra Day and ‘Our Courts’
Former SCOTUS Justice Sandra Day O’Connor is on a mission to educate. As reported last summer, she’s working with Georgetown University and Arizona State University on a “free, interactive, web-based program designed to teach and engage students in civics.” It’s called Our Courts, and it’s now live.
By having civics lessons in the form of online games, O’Connor hopes to trick the kids into thinking they’re having fun while they learn about the court system and constitutional rights. It brings back fond memories of The Oregon Trail, and an excuse to play video games in class. Though to be honest, we can’t remember what we really learned from that game, beyond the immense satisfaction of shooting down buffalo.
The site did a half-launch back in the fall, and has since re-designed. The games are still not live, but are promised by the start of the 2009 school year. This was the original home page (we’ve pointed out some elements that we wouldn’t want you to miss):

That design is no more. Out with the old, in with the new:

Somehow, the avatars are cuter than the real kids. Which home page do you prefer?

Looks better than Skadden's site.
Is that supposed to be Clarence Thomas in the tree?
I would like to get me some Kash ass lobster please!!
Ass lobster is a hell of a drug.
O'Connor is TTT. She doesn't think Americans have the right to even question how the overlords in black robes rule us.
wife beaters get a lesser sentence than child molesters because the wife deserves it.
Quit monkeying around, Clarence, and get over here!
8, that schtick was funny (mildly) in the appropriate thread because it was at least topical.
Now you're clearly just desperate for attention and hoping to get a rise out of someone.
Getting a rise out of someone is best left to CWT '05 female associates. Leave this to the professionals.
This has nothing to do with Cahill layoffs, CWT '05 associates or JUICY INSIDES.
Didn't read.
11 - What's this about Cahill layoffs, now?
Ass? Lobsters? Butter?
12 -- You tell me.

Thanks for teasing me again Kash....I clicked on your link for the Oregon Trail hoping it would link to the game
Random dorkry white kid? that is racist. Wait.... Elie didn't write that. Continue.
Any news about Cahill layoffs?? Anyone?? Anyone??
This 'Cahill layoffs' bullshit stopped being funny like...oh wait, it never was funny.
the only thing i learned from the oregon trail was that it was not good to contract typhoid fever.

I also learned that if you try to ford a river, more often than not, your oxen will die.
O'Connor served on the Iraq Study Group. Luckily despite immense pressure to do so, Bush didn't take their recommendations. O'Connor responded by trashing Bush "anonymously" in Jeffrey Toobin's book, The Nine. O'Connor has no class and is always willing to trash Republicans in front of liberal audiences to secure her legacy.
19 is a partner at Cahill.
19 - Wait, do you have news on Cahill layoffs? I've been trying to find out if there's any substance to some rumors I heard that Cahill might be laying off some people.
Sandy baby, get a new website!
there should be a law against confusing kids with facts.

I loved shooting Buffalo :P
Hmm, me thinks it might be disrespectful not to capitalize "justice." Anyone agree? I still love you though Kash.
From what I have heard, these games are supposed to teach information about the Court and its history. Unfortunately, the same people who think ideas like this will work are also likely to believe developers when they quote insane prices for development.
Games are best used to teach processes not factual information. You can teach processes through games that are fun and that kids want to play. These games can compete with non-educational games. It is much more difficult for games that try to teach factual information. I predict an epic fail.

I am shocked, shocked that you think a game that is designed like the above will fail to compete with GTA Vice City.
17 = racist
25 - If 19's a partner at Cahill, maybe he can tell us about whether or not they're having layoffs.
19 - Is there any truth to the rumor about layoffs at Cahill?
I'll give props when props due. Finally an actually funny (non-pr0no) post by ATL. (I miss you Lat.)
If they wanted a true cross-section of youthful court users, they should have had hispanic kids in white t-shirts and jeans as well as some african american kids in white t-shirts and jeans. They can photoshop in puffy black jackets for the winter.
The first one looks too second life-y
The second one looks like a law firm site run by children... which is probably what she was going for
