Morning Docket 02.04.09
* Cash-strapped states may tighten their seat belt laws. More than a dozen states are considering switching to primary seat-belt enforcement—pulling over drivers just for not buckling up—in order to qualify for a federal incentive program. Ohio, for one, could get $26.8 million for changing its law. [Associated Press]
* New Jersey attorney Harold Hoffman sued a mail order company for fraud because the penis-enlargement device he ordered didn’t work as advertised. An appeals court dismissed his case over the Herculex because he failed to prove he suffered any “ascertainable loss.” And no ascertainable gain apparently. [The Star Ledger]
* Another Obama nominee bites the dust. All the Democratic tax troubles open the door for Republicans to accuse the Dems of being “cavalier about taxing other people because they do not abide by the tax laws themselves.” [New York Times]
* We thought Homewood Suites by Hilton was supposed to be a classier joint. The hotel was sued by a couple whose toddler choked on a used condom left in their room. [On Point News]
* The state attorneys general succeed in their campaign to get sex offenders kicked off MySpace. The social networking site just booted 90,000 from its ranks. [CNN]

blah blah good morning!
So we won't be able to be "friends" with Tom Glasscock anymore?
Government to cap Wall Street pay at 500k
-Discuss
3 -- From what I've read about the plan, I'm all for it. There needs to be some accountability.
- Young Republican
The Hilton story is foul.
re: pay caps - in fact, we should pay wall streeters more, not less in these times. this is precisely when we need them to perform at their best and to attract the best financial talent.
I'm not a fan of this new page layout. Why are the comments below related stories? Related stories should be on the side. I don't want to see that shit.
6 - that's part of the reason we're in this mess.
6: wall street paid all the money it possibly could over the last few years. what kind of talent did that attract? people who ran the financial system into the ground.
I too am offended by the related stories. Please moderate.
I think 6 was being sarcastic.

3,4, 6, 8, 9, 11 - but what about the effect for biglaw attorneys? My guess is that CER's making 500k will think harder when partners making millions call about getting paid.
In other words, CEO might try to squeeze partners who will then squeeze associates.
So, does 500k compensation caps on wall street mean new york to 60k?
CER = CEO;
60k = something less than 160k (you get the idea)

I'm afraid that Daschle's withdrawal is really going to hurt Obama's pick for Czar for Vampire Hunting, Wesley Snipes. And if he's out, then who are we going to get for the critical job of organizing resistence to the hordes of the undead? Hugh Jackman? Australian. Will Smith? The Scientology stuff makes him too controversial as a follow-on pick. Who does that leave us with, Sarah Michelle Gellar? If you think that Hillary will sign off on Samatha Power AND Gellar, you have another thing coming. Thanks to Daschle, now we're all screwed. At least we won't need universal health care when we're the immortal damned...
15, don't worry. Sarah Palin will get the nod.
Daschle's withdrawal means that Crazy Cabbie can never become Secretary of the Interior.
ATL's new theme song, courtesy of the Real Big Fish and sponsored by PBwiki:
"Sell out, with me oh yeah,
Sell out, with me tonight,
PBwiki Incorporated is gonna give me lots of money
And everything's gonna be alright"
I think I am gay.
This could be the day.
No comments in the "Herculex" yet? I have lost all respect for ATL comments.
20:
"Herculex! Herculex!"
-Eddie Murphy
Mystal's fat hands clapping ...
"herculex, Herculex, HERCULEX!"
18 is a winner.
Another corrupt Democrat bites the dust. Who's next?
