Morning Docket 02.06.09

pretty-woman.jpg* A New York madam, whose escort service was busted last year, shares her client list with ABC News. Among her clients, “a partner at the Wall Street law firm Cravath Swaine Moore ‘looking for a party girl to come fully equipped’ [who] spent a total of $20,000.” Perhaps we’ll call Cravath bonuses hooker-sized rather than half-Skaddens next year. [ABC News]

* Cadwalader joins Sonnenschein as the U.S. government’s bankruptcy advisers. [Bloomberg]

* Bail has been set for Marc Dreier at $10 million. If Dreier pays up next week, he can return to his East Side apartment, but will be under lock, key, and guard there. And Judge Jed Rakoff says no Blackberrys allowed! [New York Times]

* Tony Mauro of Legal Times talks about Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s surgery and the history of health issues at SCOTUS. [BLT]

* Tyco ex-CEO Dennis Kozlowski, of the $6,000 shower curtain, has hired Carter Ledyard & Milburn to appeal his conviction to the U.S. Supreme Court. [Bloomberg]

* 50 Cent no longer has to worry about this $50 million lawsuit. [People]

It's not "First!" if you weren't first, even if the commenter who was first didn't claim "First!".

As a former CSM associate, the thought of any of the jackass partners swinging with a 20K "party girl" makes me giddy with laughter and simultaneously wracked with disgust. Being exposed as a dickwad CSM whoring married partner = priceless.

I'm sure CWT is taking far less than its usual billable rate for this work....when you've got a heavyweight like sonnenschein, you just know its got to be lucrative business

The term "half-Skadden" was lame at its inception, and becomes lamer with every use.

Cravath trifecta - a few years ago CSM partner dies in New Jersey motel with "service employee" / two years ago CSM senior benefits associate found consorting with several underage girls in Lexington Avenue hotel. This new one gives the firm even more panache. What are the odds the madam actually publishes the list. Gotta be a nervous day for the CSM partner in question.

from the abc story:

"At the high end was an escort service called Carlyle Trust, mimicking the name, but not connected in any way, to a prestigious investment firm."

Was that disclaimer REALLY needed?
