FIRST to say FIRST!
first to say "welcome back Ellie, the bar has been raised in your absence."
What happened to Elie?
did Ellie get fired? who goes to Vegas for more than a long weekend? We're going on 10 days here that he is supposedly "on vacation"!
I smell teh conspiracy. maybe in the 11th hour Marin rejected an offer to replace Ellie, and Lat is scrambling to find a replacement?
The Supreme Court report came out two weeks ago and was discussed at the ABA Midyear in Boston and on law.com at that time. Just because WaPo is only reporting it now doesn't mean ATL should arrive late to the party.
Elie never woke up early enough to write Morning Docket. Hopefully he ended up in a coma after too much excitement at the Bellagio buffet. Marin to EIC!!!
As someone who knows that Judge Kent was appointed by George H. W. Bush, all I can say is...
THIS IS EXCELLENT NEWS FOR JOHN MCCAIN!
"The proposal says that justices now linger so long that it diminishes the likelihood that the court's decisions 'will reflect the moral and political values of the contemporary citizens they govern.'".
This is PRECISELY why justices are appointed for life. The day Justices reflect the values of a particular generation of citizens is the day the Constitution will perish.
Face it, Kent, you threw up on Dean Wormer.
Hilarious how these "legal experts" begin advocating term limits for SCOTUS the instant Obama gets in office.....didn't really hear anyone clamoring for new Justices when the Repubs were in control.
Honestly, how transparent can you really be?
Time for an update, Judge Kent pleads guilty to obstruction in exchange for dropping the sex charges.
I agree with term limits. However, consider the term is for life, the idea of prohibiting a second term seems kind of pointless.
YEP, all these "liberal experts" ...I mean... "legal experts" are SO pathetic. Why don't we just get Congress to draft a bill that says Obama can appoint Justices for the rest of his life, even after he gets booted from office?
They just know that Obama MAY get to re-appoint one or two libs before he loses in 2012 (not changing the balance), that a Republican will win in 2012 and serve 8 years, and that he -- aka Romney -- will be able to replace Thomas and Scalia with young conservatives who will be in power for the next 40 years.
And that's why they're pushing their agenda. Simple as that.
