"The Millennials: Generation Enlightened or Generation Lazy?"
Or Generation Crazy?
http://abovethelaw.com/2009/05/quinn_emanuel_redskins_reservations.php
"The teenage student who sold her virginity for $13,827 could have to hand over half of her earnings to the taxman."
Just $13K? Are you kidding me?!? So, let me do the math -- for a first year's salary, one could have 10 virgins for a weekend, without having to go to the afterlife first? This world never ceases to amaze.
Incompetent? Really, the people managing law firms right now dare to call anyone incompetent? Maybe Gen-Y wants to do things differently because they've seen how broken baby boomers are leaving things. If your model doesn't work, don't be surprised when its rejected.
Good point 4.
Elie, Latham NY laid off 33 first years. Why didn't you report that number? You reported Ropes & Gray's first year layoff breakdown.

I think the previous generation is mad that we got 3 times as smart in half the time.
Also, probably because we can pretty much find and learn anything they took years to learn in about 5 mins on google.
I think anyone in here would gladly take 50k less in competition to be able to have a balanced work/life schedule
I think anyone in here would gladly take 50k less in compensation to be able to have a balanced work/life schedule

FLR should try to protect falling water under the Lanham Act.
That same piece of junk that Mcdonald's is trying to use to make me take down the golden arcs.
I was to stick my foot up their royal ass.
Former Thelen and current Orrick partner the Glass Cock here, providing a helpful hint to all summer associates-nothing impresses the partnership more than an eager young associate who spends an entire Memorial Day holiday in the office. Documenting your time in the office, such as by sending the partners you work with a picture of you in your office, holding up the May 24, 2009 NY Times, while you have markups of secretary's certificates in the background, will most assuredly result in an offer. You may also want to consider calling a partner's cell phone from your office number on Sunday at about 2 am. The Glass Cock enjoys taking his summer associate phone list with him to the beach house and calling each summer's office number at various times over the weekend to see who really has ambition, and for those who are not there the Glass Cock will wait a split second after the voicemail recording tone before hanging up, just to let any summer who called in to check messages that he or she has been busted.
Something's fishy about Magliocca's article. He says he went to a FLW house outside of Chicago, but the picture he posted is of Fallingwater, which is outside of Pittsburgh. I call bullshit.
Anyone notice that Kash looks like a little cutie in her True/Slant profile?
I'd show her what BIGlaw is all about.
This comment supplements post no. 16.
Summer associates take the lowly receptionist for granted. Sure, she makes $50K a year to answer phones and she promptly goes home at 6PM. Summer associates beware. The day and evening receptionists also keep tabs on you. They report who leaves early and often. They keep track of who stays the longest in the office. For years, the receptionists' summer reports have helped the management committee make hiring decisions. And yes, I expect my summer associates to show up to the office on Monday, Memorial Day. If I call you while on the golf course and get your voicemail, do not expect an offer at the end of the summer. And while you are at the office on Monday, bill some quality hours. I better not see professional development on those time sheets.
Lat,
That was not a funny comment about Roe v. Wade.
Lat is rarely funny.
3 ftw!
Extraordinarily distasteful and unfunny Roe v. Wade comment...why would anyone think that was funny?
Did anyone else see that Errin Brockovich movie?
Julia Roberts’ tits looked amazing!
That's why I became a lawyer.
Very unfunny re: Roe v. Wade. Huge fail.
Lat: your abortion comment is disgusting, and you should be moderated and banned from this website. I am extremely offended.
I don't agree with creating a facebook page for your fetus, as pregnancy is something that is not risk free, and just seems too private to be broadcast like that. But still, to invoke Roe v. Wade in relation to that article? You should feel very ashamed, no matter what your views on abortion.
11, 12, 13, and 14 - Its not usually the 50K pay cut. Its the foregone opportunity for much more than that.
Virgins are like biglaw first years, way overrated and essentially useless except that you can derive some joy from causing them pain. Give me a well seasoned TTT slut any day, that knows how to suck and fuck and work it like it matters, and not just lie there being awkward and self-conscious.
Everyone that is whining about the Roe v. Wade joke is a very strong argument for abortion.
I suggest you all follow the advice at: http://www.churchofeuthanasia.org/
See you in hell, fucktards.
Where can I get a copy of that Glass Cock pic?
26 - yeah, agreed. Besides, when has Lat ever been funny? Cute writing, yes, but funny, no.
Wendy Long is a complete joke. Why would you even dignify her nonsense with a link?
30-Former Thelen and current Orrick partner the Glass Cock here, informing you that the picture is available here: http://media.cnbc.com/i/CNBC/Sections/News_And_Analysis/__Story_Inserts/graphics/__SPORTS/kerr_christie.jpg
The picture is of LPGA babe Christie Kerr, from her 2002 win. The Glass Cock thanks the LPGA for producing at least one woman who likes to put lips to glassy cock.
Wow ! It's the Glass Cock at Black Cock Cunt-ry Club !
The sad part is that the website 29 plugged represents the mainstream liberal/democrat ideology. And before a bunch of democrats start telling me I'm wrong, ask yourself if you're actually in the mainstream of your party.
LEBRON FUCKING JAMES!!!
Yeah 35, that was insane! Even though I'm stuck here at work, I still got to see THAT SHOT thanks to the wonders of illegal streaming!
35 - Is that the title of a gay porno?
Millennials are whiny and entitled. The Great Recession is a good education for them.
Shut up and get to work, kids.

I stopped reading this Wendy Long after the first paragraph. Check out her math. Never post her again.
Thank GOD Lat is bringing some political balance back to these stupid posts. Mystttal is an obnoxious liberal who seemingly thinks that everyone who reads this blog is as well. I miss Lat.
Re: the Roe v. Wade link, even liberals - like Justice Ginsburg - view the decision as an embarrassment.
26: Lat doesn't actually believe that there is a constitutional right to abortion, so it's okay for him to joke about Roe v. Wade since he knows the decision was bullshit. It would have been a lot worst if pro-abortionist Elie had made the same comment.
Lat had to have made a typo- he meant "argument _against_ Rove v. Wade." A facebook profile demonstrates that the unborn baby is a person. E.g., I facebook, therefore I am.
Otherwise, what the f*ck, Dave?
46, I think the reasoning of pro-abortionists would be along those lines: (1) it's really annoying to get Facebook requests from fetuses; (2) aborted fetuses don't send Facebook requests; (3) if Roe v. Wade is upheld, there will be more abortions and thus more aborted fetuses; so therefore, it follows from (1), (2) and (3) that Roe v. Wade is good law.
Not really a strong argument, but it's about as strong as it gets given the absurdity of a decision to the effect that murdering unborn children is a constitutional right.
