That CT law firm story is somehow disturbing, including such wonderful facts as the daughter picked up the practice after her boss stole client funds, and the fact that she waltzes in at 10:30 while her 60yo dad comes in at 7:30 every day, all the while admitting that although he put her through college, she is glad that he is spending his retirement years helping his daughter build her business.

I got news for you BigLaw types. Within a couple years, if not already, the girl will be making as much as the counsels with BigLaw, and working fewer hours to boot. There's gold in small firms, if the attorneys have some smarts and a willingness to work.

great news on the federal employee partner benefits. too bad a lot of fed employees won't be able to use them b/c of the potential consequences from their coworkers.

And here I thought the federal workforce supported diversity and all those good causes, given that they voted overwhelmingly for the Great One.

How is that disturbing? Baby boomers will be working until they drop dead because they can't afford to retire. And as a parent, you're obligated to build up your child's business. So as I see it, it's a win-win for the daughter and for the father.

Choice quote from the Madoff article:

Richard Shapiro of Hidden Hills, Calif., said he was forced to give away his 8-year-old son's horse.

"While popular perception has been that the victims were primarily wealthy Jews, the reality is that most of the victims were your neighbor next door, hardworking, middle-class, taxpaying citizens," Shapiro wrote.

Is no one else bothered by the 60-year old's ex parte communications with the judge that he so openly talked about??
