To 4 (describing poker player as having a good resume)- maybe, maybe not. The article (like every other article about him) indicates he spent time as a "professional" poker player, but this article also indicates that despite two years as a "pro" and multiple cashes at tournaments, he still had to borrow money to obtain the entrance fee to the WSOP tournament, which was only a few thousand dollars. Unfortunately for him, what this story appears to really show is that he (like almost every "professional" poker player) is a borderline compulsive/degenerate gambler who also has some skill at poker, but that sort of recklessness is not typically good for big firm lawyers.

Had LAT been photographed for this piece I doubt that the same degree of “balls-on” accuracy would have been achieved.
5 may be right that firm interviewers may view me as a compulsive/degenerate gambler. This may be even truer when I show up to OGI in flip-flops and a wife-beater (I kid I kid).
It's true that I borrowed money to enter the $10k heads-up event. But, there's a reasonable explanation for it that doesn't involve me being a busto degenerate. Simply, I was at the Rio the night before the $10k heads-up event watching my friend Jason Somerville at the final table of the $1.5k shootout. There was a rumor going around the Rio that the $10k heads-up event was about to sell out (it was capped at 256 entrants) and I only had about $6k in cash/chips on me at the time. My big concern was that if I waited until the morning of the tournament to get money from the bank, the tournament would be sold out. So, I borrowed the money from a friend instead of waiting. I guess it worked out well.
Oh, and by the way I'll play Elie HU4ROLLZ.
