Elie, you disagree with Marcus’ following comment? How so:
“Diversity can be good in moderation—if what is being brought in is desirable. Most Americans don’t mind a little ethnic food, some Asian math whizzes, or a few Mariachi dancers—as long as these trends do not overwhelm the dominant culture.”

Elie, solid response to a sh*t defense by Buchanan.
I don’t get why these people are so invested in this kid. He’s certainly not the future of the conservative movement because if we’re banking on him and other ignorant, close-minded dinosaurs, the party doesn’t have a future.
From what I heard and saw at the NRCC Senate House dinner last night, this party is about the experience a decade on the backburner like the Dems had from 2000 to 2008.

What would you think if some random black stranger called your girlfriend or sister a “white bitch” for no reason and then slapped her in the face? I would be ready to murder him with the claw end of a hammer. And I would be furious if I found out a school like UVA knew about he incident and admitted the student anyway (even if the perp was a prominent liberal and as smart as they come). Epstein earned every bit of what he’s getting on this blog and more.
Actions have consequenses. One of the consequenses of getting drunk and assaulting minorities while screaming racial slurs is that you don’t get to go to an elite law school. Another consequense is that you get branded as a racist douchebag for life. Both of these consequenses are warranted and fair. We all do stupid things that we regret from time to time, especially when drinking. But assaulting strangers because of their race isn’t something you get a pass on.
And for the handful of right wing nuts defending this guy, have you no shame at all?

Tend to agree with 16 and 28.
My jewish father was in a fight with my christian mother one day about her bossing him around. In a heat of passion he screamed “I’m not your nigger!”
Is he a racist?
Maybe if he had said slave he wouldn’t be.
Maybe Epstein should have chosen to attack Western culture and be racist against white people. Then he would have lots of support around here.
Eipstein is young. Give him the space to grow.

The double standard should be appalling for anyone, regardless of your politics.
Bill Ayers did something far, far worst than what Epstein did (attacking the Pentagon and the Capitol) and not only did he never apologized for it; he even said after September 11 that he wished he had done more bombings. And yet Ayers is still a respected university professor, and his buddy of course is still in the White House.
Epstein did something stupid while drunk, profoundly regrets his mistake, apologizes for it profusely, and he can’t even become a law *student*?
Now, if Epstein did lie on his application, I don’t think anyone would be troubled by UVA’s decision. But there is absolutely no evidence that he lied (it would have been stupid to do so and not to expect the law school to ever find out).
