IRS Audits: Coming to a Company Near You
At least the Internal Revenue Service is doing its part to help out with the federal deficit. The IRS will be looking at companies to make sure they’ve been paying their employment taxes. A lot of companies. From Going Concern:
The IRS, in its continuing effort to squeeze every last dime out of every single one of us, is planning 6,000 audits of companies and their compliance with employment taxes over the next three years.
Apparently, the IRS hasn’t conducted such a review since 1984. Let’s ignore that the IRS is late to the party, and embrace the fact that they showed up at all.
