No, Elie, if you actually read the Ideoblog post, he features an argument from a **Whitter** law professor claiming that higher tier law students obtain no preference over lower tier law students for the less prestigious jobs, and there's still great demand for these services from Whittier law grads.
Even if true, Whittier/UofIll. etc. charge almost as much as "elite" schools yet offer no prospects to graduates to pay down their debt.
Ribstein has to stop this self-serving shit. This post, as well as his post last week about law school still being a good investment does not pass the haha test.

3, sounds like something a socialist would say. Let the market do its job and stop complaining.

3 - Exactly. That Larry Ribstein is a complete fucking idiot. Srsly. I made a comment (under "J") that completely invalidated his argument using hard numbers, but he responds by saying that my numbers "don't add much". WTF?

The guy just doesn't understand what the legal job market really looks like for recent law school grads. ESPECIALLY so for those that do not go to "top" schools.

I have never received a response from any of the dozens and dozens of resumes I sent out. And I graduated magna cum laude from a third tier law school.
Most of my fellow law school classmates never even got an interview, either, much less a job. And we have been out of law school over a year now.

The whittier professor makes a good living off the tuition money that his law school scams from their victims.

5, are you talking about the market where an HLS applicant and a Whittier Law applicant each are able to finance the same tuition, since both are non-dischargeable (notwithstanding the fact that only one will have a chance to pay it off before death)? The market where applicants are presented with manipulated graduate salary data from law schools?

Sunstein is an enemy of the state.

Why must Obama appoint only America-haters who view individual liberty as a problem?

Is it because he's a totalitarian?

Sunstein is a hack.

I wouldn't call him an enemy of the state - that's just a tad too strong, don't you think, even if from a conservative point of view - but he hardly makes any effort to engage the evidence of the other side. It's a wonder he's been celebrated as a scholar.

8, Sorry to hear of your troubles (especially in this economy), but I had a much different experience. I graduated cum laude from an SEC school and I locked up a job making 95k a year at mid-size firm in a great city. All of my friends earned similar offers. Two of them ended up at Baker Botts. In fact, I was admitted to a top-50, private program but chose the SEC school because of it's low cost, scholarship award, and ability to switch to in-state status after a year. In fact, based on my experience, I think it's kinda silly to go to any super-expensive school . . .

Sunstein believes that internet speech should be regulated by the federal government (i.e. fascism):
