Misadventures in Lawyer Advertising: Jane Clark Swaps Out Her Hubba-Hubba Photo

Jane Allen Clark Jane A Clark Texas State Bar.jpgLast month, we linked to the Texas Bar profile for Jane Allen Clark. At right, it was racier than most of the bar association photos we come across.

We wrote at the time:

We called Jane Allen Clark to ask about the photo, and how she chose it. “I just liked it,” she told us. “We all want to look like L.A. Law, I guess.”

After getting our call, she speculated that “maybe [she] shouldn’t have used that particular photo.”

After the Above The Law post, she decided to get rid of this particular photo.

See the replacement after the jump. In our opinion, it’s much worse.

Here’s the new photo for Jane Allen Clark. It’s decidedly less hubba-hubba:
the new less hubba jane allen clark.jpg

We’re sad she changed it. We thought her first photo was mildly inappropriate but fun. Plus, her baleful glare in this one feels like it’s directed straight at us at Above The Law.

Nice! I actually got a FIRST! This is my first. Been trying for weeks. It's invigorating. A milestone, for sure.

On a story-related note, what happened to her? How can she go from that to...that? I'm going to just pretend they're the same person and say she came to a point in her life where it was time to trade in the Porsche for a Honda Odyssey.

From "stacked" to "in the stacks." Her apparent nonplussitude is matched only by the expression on my Jeanine's face when Nigel comes over for rehearsals.

6: "invigorating"? I'm concerned for you.

On topic: Let's face it, if any of us were told we could only pick one of those two people to be our attorney on an important matter, we would pick the second photo.

Kash, can we see your LA Law picture?

It's simple. Photos related to the practice of law or any other profession should be professional and appropriate. Photos posted by professionals on a dating, social networking or other personal site can be somewhat more relaxed, as long as they don't reveal conduct that is criminal or totally unprofessional. Basically, professionals should treat photos in the same way as clothing -- one wears different clothes to court, or to confer with clients in the office, than one does when socializing on a weekend evening. Ms. Clark is recognizably the same woman in both photos, but one is appropriate in a professional context and the other in a social context. She isn't the first person, and won't be the last either, to post a photo before considering such issues. While the contrast may be momentarily entertaining, stop hassling her and move on. There are a lot more important things to deal with these days.

Isn't there a state paralegal association website that you should be trolling for pictures to write about? That would be more appropriate.

It's obvious that she photoshopped her face onto someone else's body in the first photo. The body in that photo looks almost cartoonish, and the head is out of proportion with the body.

In one photo she looks like a hooker; in another she looks like an attorney. What's the difference? Too many similarities in both professions for you to disagree on this one.

Unfortunately, there was no eye candy in law school to check out during boring lectures. A few girls that were average were like the hottest thing. Some of the girls looked like George Washington. Most of them were clinically insane.

@34 - The worst part is they are surrounded by so many unattractive female classmates that they actually start to think they are hot. Nothing worse than a female law student who thinks she is hot.

I agree with 22. Photoshopped. I also think that's a wig. Weird kinda floating hair line.

Real question is: why???

Don't care about the mutton/lamb issue. To me the more important issue is bait/switch.

I think she’s an attractive woman even in the second picture. Especially since we know what she looks like when she lets her hair down.
