* Is Sarah Palin using a white supremacist ghostwriter for her upcoming book? Maybe she thought it was a clever joke when ghostwriting applicants showed up on her doorstep dressed in white sheets. [Little Green Footballs]
* If you have any questions about how to get married online, ask Kash. Questions only, not proposals. [Time Out New York]
* Harvard Law School is giving employers a second bite at the crimson apple. [American Lawyer]
* Kids who eat candy are more likely to grow up to be criminals. But kids who don’t eat candy are more likely to grow up hating their parents and stuffing them in a low cost nursing home at the earliest opportunity. You take a risk either way. [Blackbook Legal]
* Does anybody have a problem with the fact that the U.S. incarcerates a larger percentage of its population than any other country in the world? Are we okay that 1 of every 22 adult Texans is “in prison, in jail, on probation or on parole”? Either U.S. citizens are more criminal than anybody else or something is very, tragically, wrong here. The only thing you do is attack Sarah Palin. Why don't you look at the monumental failures of the Obama administration for once?
Wow, slow week at ATL. Here's hoping the weekend rejuvenates you guys.
Well, about the whole incarceration thing: might there be some skewing of the proportions by the fact that some foreign nations are quicker to pull the trigger and sentence people to death for offenses that might land them in jail in the U.S. instead?
This comment is addressed to post no. 2.
Obama's failures are obvious. No need to beat a dead horse unless you want to be called a racist. I would like to know why more people aren't upset about the fact that Commissar Barrack Hussein Obama is choosing to neglect our double digit unemployment rate by wasting time and resources in flying to Chicago to partake in the Olympics debacle. People were demanding George W. Bush's impeachment for lesser infractions.
On a serious note, there is going to be a TON of bubble butt bashing going on during the 2016 Olympics. I mean, Brazil? Are you kidding me?
Blaming Obama for anything = Racism, pure and simple.
At least Sarah Palin's church isn't led by Jeremiah Wright...
8, at least Jeremiah Wright isn't a snake handler.
Your comment re Palin's ghostwriter is incorrect. The linked article never claims Palin's ghost-writer is a white supremacist. Rather, it claims she once wrote a book with a person the article claims is a white supremacist.
I was under the impression that friends of friends don't count ala Van Jones??
We need to bomb Brazil back to the stoneage!

Palin's not even a lawyer. There's no connection between her and anything remotely law related.
Mystal simply snipes at her because he's an anti-white bigot and she's the best known Republican at the moment. As soon as the GOP nominates a candidate in 2012, Mystal will shift his hatred to that person (assuming Mystal still has a job here.)
12, let's be real. Granted, I'm no Republican, but anyone who doesn't consider Palin a supreme target isn't playing with a full deck. Who would have ever thought it was possible to find another Republican who could so quickly make us forget what a doof George W. Bush is? What is the likelihood that someone even more intellectually challenged would appear on the scene even before Bush had exited the stage? Hollywood screenwriters couldn't come up with this kind of gold.
10,
Vincent himself also has some not quite mainstream views as outlined in the article.
Little green footballs isn't exactly a raving liberal mouthpiece either.
Palin's ghostwriter you claim is a white supremacist has also ghostwritten for former PLO member Kamal Saleem. Does this make Palin a Palestinian lover?
Did you read the actual list of countries, Kash? Liberia and Afghanistan are the countries with the lowest percentages of population in prison. Liberia, home of widespread atrocities, human sacrifices and slaughtering of vast quantities of woman and children. Committed by roving bands of killers. Lots of them. But at least they enforce the laws, find the killers and too many of their peeps - that would be "tragically wrong."
14, Lynn Vincent is a she, not a he.
Though her views on abortion and the origin of life are certainly not shared by me, both ARE mainstream in America, and have no connection to views of racial supremacy.
Um, if you bothered to read the links you post, you'd see that the accusation is NOT that SP's ghostwriter is a white supremacist, but that she co-wrote a different book with a white supremacist.
Is it shocking that someone could be involved with a white supremacist in a country that just had a Latino supremacist appointed to its Supreme Court?
Read the wedding article. The father of the bride bought the happy couple "Climaxxx, a truth-or-dare-type game."
Um, ick. Whose father does that?
Regarding the prison link, I suggest every time you point a finger at a problem you should be forced to suggest a solution - it'll make you look less whiny...and help ferret out your motive, i.e., do you think drug offenders should not be incarcerated or just not African Americans?
I thought that the 2008 presidential election proved that guilt by association is no longer a valid criticism?
"Are we okay that 1 of every 22 adult Texans is “in prison, in jail, on probation or on parole”? Either U.S. citizens are more criminal than anybody else or something is very, tragically, wrong here."
Very flawed reasoning. Maybe there's an equivalent # of criminals in every country and we just do a better job putting them behind bars. Maybe in other countries the criminals stay free or die.
[Blaming Obama for anything = Racism, pure and simple] = playing the race card yet again.
Face it, if Obama wasn't black, he wouldn't be president.
22 is right. If the president can hang out with terrorists, Plain can hang out with people who hang out with racists.
Maybe the rest of the world just doesn't imprison enough people. I'm no expert, but this would seem to belong on the list of possibilities.
Oh poor, naive Harvard... If firm outlooks change, the firms will just do 3L recruiting or lateral hire experienced people. Why pay people $3k a week when you don't have to?
tttexas is a criminal cesspool. What a shiTTThole.
The rest of world falls largely into two categories:
1. Homogenous, where cultural and religious norms keep people in line and everyone knows everyone else, so you can't steal something without having to (a) return it and (b) face social ostracism. E.g., any country in the Arctic, in a desert or on an island.
2. Lawless, where people and property largely have to fend for themselves and the only crimes that the government cares to (or can) prosecute are those of a political nature. E.g., Sub-Saharan Africa, the Wild West, the site of the 2016 Olympics.
America is very diverse and makes a good-faith effort to impose the rule of law. Hence the large population of incarcerated convicts.
Mystal et al.,
Why so scared of Palin? Is it because more Americans agree with her than with liberal elites who think their lame ass blog posts are witty? Why resort to personal attacks? Can't win in the arena of ideas with an Idaho grad?
Kash, I'll marry you online!
If Elie doesn't have a response for 22, this entire post is void.
Since all of the other posts seem to be wittier than what I can think of at the moment...
Elie, DO SOMETHING. Is this really the best you can do for the last non-sequiturs of the week? really? are you even trying anymore or do you just have a special liberal bitch RSS feed?
I hate you
hugs and kisses
What worries me is that 21 out of 22 texans are not in prison.
Nice, 34.
Texas missed a few.
36 - That joke has already been made. You, sir are a douche bag.
I was well aware of this blog's political leanings (though leaning implies that it hasn't fallen full-on into the tank, which it clearly has.) But to bash Sarah Palin for an unconfirmed rumor that is only arguably important (just because her rumored ghostwriter associates with racists doesn't mean Palin or even the ghostwriter are racist) without mentioning that she is at the top of the sales list for Amazon and B&N an unprecedented 40 days before the book comes out is just dirty pool. Just because you don't like that she's popular doesn't mean you can cover it up.
YAWN. What's with all the liberal claptrap? I used to like this blog.

"Are we okay that 1 of every 22 adult Texans is “in prison, in jail, on probation or on parole”? Either U.S. citizens are more criminal than anybody else or something is very, tragically, wrong here."
You are forgetting another possibility: American children eat too much candy.
Chicago Trib and Law360 reporting Friday that Katten Muchin moved up the start date for a small group of its incoming first years.
"Katten Muchin said in a statement that the increased demand in some of its core areas, including litigation and IP practices, had enabled it to bring a percentage of those deferred first-years on board four months earlier than planned."
So all of Obama's connections are okay, but Sarah Palin working with someone who once worked with someone who was a white supremacists is unthinkable? How is this related to law again?
Here's how we Texans think: If you break the law, you go to prison; if you commit a capital offense, you die. But I guess enforcing laws is "inhumane" for you pansy-faced liberals.
As for Mystttal, he is racist walrus, period. Every time he writes another typo-riddled posts, I want to pimp slap every affirmative discrimination defender.
Lastly, Sarah Palin - I want to touch the hiney.
The reason PE is Lat is because Lat is a conservative and PE allows Lat to speak through his conservative alter ego PE.
44: Accord re Mrs. Palin.
Ok, bear with me here, I'm going to try to talk this out. So Obama and Oprah promised to bring the Summer Olympics to Chicago in 2016. In reliance on this promise, Mayor Daley bribed several construction unions to get new stadia built on time for the Olympics, which he thought was a sure thing, costing him a couple million dollars. Does he have a claim under R2K 90?
(1) Clear and definite promise
Daley reasonably understood Obama/Oprah's statements to be a promise, as relayed from the IOC, who would be racist not to give the games the triumvirate of prominent African-Americans stumping for Chicago.
(2) Intended to induce reliance
Daley can't get anything built without bribing the unions, and they needed new stadia for the Olympics. What else is a Chicago politician to do? The IOC knew this, and they intended for Daley to bribe the unions.
(3) The promisee actually relies to his or her detriment
Daley's out some serious change, and now he has to wait until a couple more favors can be called in so he can recoup that money.
and (4) an injustice can only be avoided by enforcing the promise.
It would be racist not to give the Olympics to Chicago. OBAMA! OBAMA! OBAMA!
Now I just need to research the Hague Convention and see where I can serve that racist french bastard.
palin's book immediately vaulted to #1 on amazon.com:
http://www.amazon.com/Going-Rogue-American-Sarah-Palin/dp/0061939897/ref=pd_ts_b_1?ie=UTF8&s=books
must make the liberal elites quite angry, as evidenced by ATL's choice of words today
Someone is threatened by Palin.
And well they should be.
Take out the blacks and Mexicans and the US is probably more law-abiding than other countries.
