First to say Elie is an idiot to defend Obama's Nobel prize by playing the race card ... again.

Too bad Elie's parents didn't simply choose to have ZERO children.

Obama did not win the Nobel Prize in Economics only because the white males in the Swedish central bank are all racists.
Change we can believe in.

Quick question, can we confirm that Elie ever passed the bar? I always thought he had an, ahem, stage name....but I've heard otherwise (which may, or may not, be correct).

Nice job showing up on a holiday, ATL. Much appreciated by those of us whose employers don't respect the Columbus :)

Elie absolutely did not pass the NY bar. Take a look at the NY Bar online admission records. No Elie Mystal.

I want to vomit, I can't believe I wasted 5 minutes reading a piece written by Eli on TrueSlant. Eli is a joke, and possibly the worst writer I've encountered.

Elie is the next Al Sharpton based on his race baiting, for Elie any criticism of Obama = racism. It's insane.

Deferred associate here. OMM sent us "terms of employment" docs today. It looks like they are starting all of us in December. I think this is good news for everyone - not only deferred 09ers.

Good luck to everyone.

Good job Elie!

1. I don't really understand the several comments above dissing your T/S article. I hope it's just one schmuck posting several times.

2. I thought your article was well thought out and well said. Sure there was a typo :-), but you had some relevant quotes from racist policemen that I would only have imagined, but not actually known of unless you posted that. so nice facts.

3. I also found the ultimate message of the article well said. Correct me if I'm wrong, but your ultimate message was that it was an aspirational award given to a man who instilled HOPE in U.S. citizens and world citizens in a time of distress (beginning of the Great Worldwide Recession, Wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, crisis in Darfur, etc). I'm not sure how people can be so eager to tear down Obama that they begin to tear down hope. While I seldom like to mention religion, since it usually leads to nothing but knee-jerk reactions and trouble, I feel compelled to since those who are against him seem to be the SELF-PROCLAIMED most Christian among us. It seems to me that those against Obama, more often than not, would cloak themselves as Christians. If this is the case, I'm reminded of the bible passages:

"By their fruits, you will know them" (Matt 7:16)

and

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." (Matt 5:9)

Now, I'm not saying that Obama is The One, as Republicans refer to him. But he is kind of a nice guy, who tends to unite people and, at least pretextually, wants to spread peace. Perhaps the Republicans slanderous attempt at naming him, The Chosen One, is, ironically, accurate.

Elie - needs to go AWAY!!!!! JFC

Somebody else - PLEASE!

Yes. Finally, Elie has managed to tie O to Martin Luther King. MLK used to be known as "Mike" - until MLK’s father decided that his Church business would make more money if the young public speaker, womanizer were called Martin Luther. It worked. Mike was an alcoholic, prostitute loving, violent, plagiarizing, hypocrite that spoke with a tremor for effect (just like O on inauguration day - whooppitteedooo!!!).

I have now visited this blog for the last time. Other sites have all of the relevant legal data w/o the excess crap from Elie and the doomed law students of this generation.

I call for an across the board boycott of this site until Elie is fired.

Dear 21 - You are missing the point. Elie is a very smart man. He knows that everyone who kisses O's little ass gets a handout. Elie is angling for a spot on the administration for next term. Elie and O have a lot in common - psychologically speaking.

However, I will join your boycott. I will periodically check back to see if Elie still works here. If so, I will refrain from wasting countless hours on dribble and my life will be better because of it. Not only is Elie a racist, but ATL does not present women in a positive light. Maybe if things change - I will return. Until then I will be getting my legal news from better sources.

To all race-baiters claiming odious race-baiting:

Don't hate the player, hate the game. The spoils system to which 22 refers is a product of the amoral self-dealing FTTs. Elie is simply conforming to the arbitrary, nepotist rules the FTTs--along with the BigLaws, the muscle of FTTs--set up to destroy the meritocracy of the legal profession in particular and the United States more generally.

Hurry up, though, because the next economic recession is just around the corner, relatively speaking. If you aren't playing on the FTT team, you're likely to join the ranks of the productive unemployed.
