A story on the DC Sniper? Can we get a Chief Moose update???

The Moose is resting his tail in Honolulu.

The real winner of the Texas lottery is named Willis Willis? What is the thief's name -- Gary Coleman???

Lat - with so many headlines yesterday, it was pretty poor editorial discretion to go ahead on the Jon Mechanic investigation piece. That story could have easily been saved for a slower news day. I guess you're just sticking with your standard race/gender/sexuality/political-baiting journalism on slow days to drive traffic.

No word on ATL GETTING SUED?? http://www.law.com/jsp/article.jsp?id=1202435131161&hbxlogin=1

5, I'm pretty sure it's just because they don't know yet. They have been pretty slow on posting stories!

Good point, six. Lat, consider this thread as process served on you.

3 ... 2 .... 1 ... And here comes the crudely drawn cartoon of Elie having intercourse with Lat.

avatar

8--you know, that picture's good for a chuckle, but really I credit Lat with better taste in men.

As a Jew, I think it would be nice if there was a massive con perpetrated by a non-Jew, for once. Perhaps an Irishman? Yeah, that would do.

9, but do gay men care about anything but penis size?

avatar
12 Posted by guest | Permalink Tuesday, November 3, 2009 9:47 AM

The law.com story:

"A prominent University of Miami School of Law professor..." Oh, FAIL. No such thing.

avatar

10, Rothstein isn't necessarily a Jewish name. Might be German Catholic.

THE LEGAL SYSTEM IS ANTISEMITIC!

avatar
15 Posted by guest | Permalink Tuesday, November 3, 2009 9:52 AM

ATL should start a legal defense fund. I'd kick in some money. But, I'd want an assurance that SLAPP would be asserted.

Or, they could just ask Sullivan & Cromwell to take the case pro bono.

16 Posted by guest | Permalink Tuesday, November 3, 2009 9:56 AM

11--I am ignorant of such issues. Do gay men prefer large or small, given where it's going?

13 -

Maybe, but not in Florida. Also, Scott is a super-Jewy first name. Half of the kids in my day school were named Scott. Maybe if he was Karl-Heinz Rothstein, or Otto Rothstein...

The Supreme Pay Czars are just jealous they're not working at Cravath.

At least Posner has seen Capitalism for the massive fail that it is. Markets suck, bring back central planning!

Yeah Lat, post a story about the lawsuit. All the ATL vultures are ready to pick over your bones now.

avatar
21 Posted by guest | Permalink Tuesday, November 3, 2009 10:19 AM

Lat, bummer about the suit. Hope you can get yourself off.

21--Do you think he should advertise on Craigslist for an attorney who can help him do that?

So when do we get to see the Kash beaver shot from Facebook?

avatar

Kind of funny that a scholar of African-American civil rights would misspell "Barack Obama."

5 - I expect that Lat is smart enough not to comment on the lawsuit beyond what he has already done. Smart to post a link to the complaint, considering how awful it is. If Jones was going to do this, you'd hope that he'd get outside counsel and allow a professional litigator to handle this. Instead, it reads like a bloviating intellectual who has never practiced wrote it, which from what I can tell is true.

BTW, I am a 3L at the University of MIami. I've never taken Jones, but from what I can tell from friends who have, he's a complete jackass. I am embarassed for myself, my colleagues, and my University.

26 Posted by guest | Permalink Tuesday, November 3, 2009 11:43 AM

Not to mention that I was a 1L when the initial incident happened, so there are whole classes of 1Ls and 2Ls who don't know about Jones's arrest. Now they do. If Jones' concern truly was the defemation of his character and damage to his reputation, filing this lawsuit = epic fail.

The copyrights and campaigns blog has basically set forth ATL's defense in the suit. A couple observations:
1) Will ATL defend itself? Are three failed attorneys good enough to mount a defense against such a horrendously weak complaint?
2) The "law professor" or so he calls himself must be out of his mind with rage to file a complaint like this. It looks like an Orly Taintz complaint ranting against Obama's legitimacy, or just some whackjob complaining that radio signals are stealing his thoughts. A 1L could put together a better complaint than this. I doubt that the law professor is actually incompetent; it's much more likely that the man is blind with hatred against ATL and just pooped out a failboat of a complaint.

Elie is a failed attorney. Kash is not at attorney. Lat p0wns you in every category of attorney success, have no doubt.

29-

Elie never passed the bar. See the other threads here and everywhere else as to whether you can hold yourself out as an attorney if you have not passed the bar.

avatar
31 Posted by guest | Permalink Tuesday, November 3, 2009 12:20 PM

I have no problem defining "failed attorney," a totally informal term, to include someone who graduates from law school, practices law, but ultimately fails the bar and gets out of practice.

I don't think it's an insult to point out that Kash is a non-attorney. Feature, not a bug, etc. As for Elie, whatever, he is a well-meaning guy, hideous warts and all.
