Associate Bonus Watch: Dewey & LeBoeuf Helps Me Keep My Clothes On

Last week, I wrote:

If Dewey doesn’t follow the market and instead pays what it did last year, I’ll strip naked and run through the streets screaming “I am TTT! I am so TTT!”

Happily for me — and the women and children of the New York metropolitan area — Dewey & LeBoeuf decided to match the associate bonus market. The firm will be on the Cravath scale (not the S&C scale).
Bonus news before Christmas is so much better than re-deferment news during Chanukah.

RE: U.S. Counsel and Associate Bonuses
In 2009, Dewey & LeBoeuf’s centennial year, our counsel and associates have, once again, made significant contributions to the firm’s achievements. I am therefore pleased to announce that eligible associates in our U.S. offices will receive the following year-end bonus amounts:
Class of 2008 — $7,500
Class of 2007 — $10,000
Class of 2006 — $15,000
Class of 2005 — $20,000
Class of 2004 — $25,000
Class of 2003 — $30,000
Class of 2002 — $30,000
Year-end bonuses will be awarded based on similar criteria to those used last year. Associates in the Class of 2007 and more senior will be eligible for an additional discretionary bonus which
takes into account exceptional performance. Bonuses for counsel and associates in the Class of
2001 and more senior will be determined on an individual basis.
On behalf of the entire partnership, I would like to thank you for your commitment and
individual efforts this year.
